Fine, I just posted in the WAYLT thread. Ugh..... Now can I talk about the Iraq Study Group report?
-
I see. Well, talking about music these days normally bores me to tears to be perfectly honest. But I'll scan to see if I can find a thread that peaks my interest.
-
Thank you, brother. I had a reputation here well before I started posting here on a regular basis. Reputations are tricky.

I don't believe I ever have here, no. Absolutely! Hell, I named my son after two Jazz musicians. But, as I explained to you in another thread, I feel I have said all I have to say about Jazz. I prefer to listen to it rather than talk about it these days. The main reason being that nothing new has really got me excited over the last few years (aside from certain albums such as Touchin' On Trane, The Peach Orchard, Painters Spring...), so I find myself drifting back towards the older masters. And what more can really be said about Trane, Dolphy, Miles, Webster, Ellington, etc..? That there are, Mr. juck. And since you like percentages so much, why not break down how many people here I argue with as opposed to how many people I simply have a thorough conversation with. That would be an interesting stat. Also, as it sometimes tends to be at JC, people sometimes prefer to talk about me rather than talk to me. You would be a good example of this seeing that you already have a well formed opinion of me and like to air it, but I'm not sure how you were able to form it since you and I have rarely conversed with each other. Why not try talking to me rather than about me? That's fair to both of us, isn't it? And if you find you still don't like me, then so be it.

Eh, it's not nearly as bad as some make it sound, Al.

Eyewitness Account of Mid-Air Collision

And here I thought they had cleared these guys month or so back? This story just keeps getting more and more bizarre. Lots of really weird questions concerning this one. Not the least of which being how the hell did TWO warning systems fail? -
And why did I start calling him that, BM? Let me answer that for you. Because he started calling me a troll. And as I told Mr. E, if you don't want to play rough, don't thow the first punch. And for gods sake, don't start whining because I hit you back acting as though you did nothing to warrant the return fire. Talk about a red herring. And if he left this place simply because I started posting here, that's rather bizarre. Don't you think?

I don't presume to speak for Chris, but I believe there is a connection between the appearance on this board of Scott Dolan and Chris' disappearance. I don't know what their common history is, but Chris does not respect Dolan's political opinions, and Dolan in turn acts obnoxiously and resorts to silly name-calling (see above). What? Because I refer to him as al-Bertson? Hell, he never seemed to have a problem with Johnny E blowing apart at the seems, now did he? Neither do you, by the way. So why not bark up another tree? I didn't do jack shit to him, and he intentionally started a thread to see if he could get me fired up which Jim later deleted. Do some reasearch before relaying the story, my friend.

I subscribe to the NYT. I can cut and paste any op-ed piece from there if you'd like me to in al-Bertson's stead.

I thought Requiem For A Dream was brilliant. But it's definitely not a movie you'll want to watch more than once. Very disturbing stuff.

Terrible ending to this story. I feel really bad for the cat and his family. On NBC News the other night the reporter from the area mentioned that they had found bear tracks very close to his footprints in certain areas. Aren't bear in hibernation at this time of the year?
-
I've been pretty interested in it since I first saw the trailer several months ago. Looks very intriguing. I just hope it doesn't end up being some sloppy turd like What Dreams May Come was.

Jim, I didn't really keep up with the Olds saga that much. How did GM handle warranties after that? -
Where is Master Nessa these days? Haven't seen him around here much.

I think it's a shame to see what's happening to both Ford and Chevy. But the unfortunate bottom line is that they are pretty much putting out crap these days. Their truck lines are still pretty rock solid, but the rest of their fleets are sorely lagging behind their Asian competitors. The Chrysler group seems to be trying mightily to turn the corner, but their sales have been lagging lately as well. Though their biggest problem is that they have gone back to making what made American cars great in the past. Big engines with huge amounts of HP. Unfortunately, the price of gas has really hamstrung them in that dept. People simply can't see spending $30k+ on cars that are going to beat them to death at the gas pump. American muscle cars are quite a treat until you realize you can actually see the gas guage moving left when your foot is on the gas pedal. -
I've been kicking around going back to school. But damn, I hated it enough the first time through.

36 here, too. Gave up my career of Ophthalmic Technician 6 years ago when my son was born. Still haven't figured out what to do since. Currently working in building maintenance. Pay is sweet, benefits are out of this world, I get every holiday off that is known to man, and have no complaints at all. I'd rather be doing something else, for sure, but what it is I don't know.

Agreed. I'm a gamer, though not nearly as much as I used to be in my younger days. But I think $600 for a video game machine is insanity all by itself. But then you have these leeches who buy the machine with the intention of selling it for monstrous profit? I'm not sure if they sicken me more or less than those willing to pay the outrageous prices.

Another sign of a good BBQ joint, a little complementary employee DNA with each and every order! And apt description of the finer Mexican restaurants in Florida.

Wow! I never realized there were so many KC folks here! Great town. I still prefer St. Louis, but it's nice to be smack dab between the two.

Already filmed as "Total Recall" I know, but the movie sucked. -

Even though The Running Man "borrowed" quite a bit from Lies Inc., I'd still like to see Lies made into a motion picture. I also have to say that the only part about Bladerunner that really disappointed me was how Rachael was portrayed. She was no sympathetic little lady! -

Yep. And the whole real vs. artificial animal thing in general. What a disturbing look at the emotional degredation of human beings in the future. I think that thing that Deckard had that froze all subjects around him within a certain distance was pretty cool. And the overall effect from that would be so easy to create visually these days.
