  1. Scandal - season one. Since I've caught up with The Good Wife I have an opening for a female driven lawyer show, this one seems to fit the bill nicely.
  2. It was my fault, I should have kept my mouth shut. As usual.
  3. Very cool! Ian became a much better flute player over the years. I wish I could time travel back and catch some of those shows.... Syd was already gone before they embarked on that tour, so you saw them with Gilmour.
  4. The award for "grouchy old man post of the day" goes to...
  5. I binge watched the rest of Community over the past several days, probably my 3rd time through the first 3 seasons and it was the second time seeing 4 & 5. Really looking forward to season 6! Now to figure out something else funny to watch, I'm burned out on dramatic series right now. Need escapism....
  6. Yeah but by then, the first derivative was negative. Huh?
  7. The version of Echoes from Live At Pompeii is a total ass-kicker, a more visceral arrangement but no less interesting. I dig Atom Heart Mother, I just have to be in the right mood for it. Ummagumma I think is underrated, the live disc is great (and the Saucerful material works better) and I'm really fond of Gilmour's "The Narrow Way" from the studio album.
  8. There is some great live Floyd from '74 as well.
  9. Echoes. That's the primary reason it ranks so high. Plus...One Of These Days, Pillow of Winds and Fearless. I like Seamus, it's a lark and I don't mind a sense of humor now and again, sure is more fun than anything Waters would contribute post-77. Any of those albums could change order depending on what kind of mood I'm in. When I first did the list I thought about having WYWH and Meddle tied for first place, but then I just flipped a coin in my mind.
  10. Obscured By Clouds is great. The song "Childhood's End" (written by David Gilmour) basically points the way toward Dark Side and all the albums that followed it.
  11. I have to take photos for events at work, then keep them catalogued to show potential customers. iPhoto works great for that purpose.
  12. For the record The Butler didn't win any major awards, it didn't get a single Oscar or Golden Globe nomination and the critics didn't like it either, it has a 47 metacritic score.
  13. Yes, Applecare is worth it. Extends the warranty from 1 year to 3 years and you get phone support for the entire time.
  14. I first "discovered" Pink Floyd in 1978 or 79, a local radio station that I listened to played the entire Dark Side of the Moon album and I had a musical epiphany. I then took the usual approach of bugging my Mother incessantly until she got tired of hearing about it and bought the album for me. My second purchase was The Wall several months later. The Wall was the first "concept album" I had come across and I must admit at the time I considered it an untouchable masterpiece (I was 9). As the years have passed my opinion of The Wall has changed many times, currently I think it's an interesting experiment and about 1/2 of the album is great. My favorites currently: 1. Meddle 2. Wish You Were Here 3. Animals 4. Dark Side of the Moon 5. Obscured By Clouds Basically all the albums they released between 1971 & 1977. (The Wall would come in at #6) For the record, I like most of their albums.
  15. I avoided this, it looked like something as manipulative as Forrest Gump. No thanks. Forrest Gump was better. Sounds like I made the right decision! Forrest Gump goes into my "technically well-made piece of shit" category.
  16. I didn't "get" iPhoto at first, but now I use it at work all the time.
  17. The MAC OS is really easy to learn, you should be totally comfortable in just a few days.
  18. I avoided this, it looked like something as manipulative as Forrest Gump. No thanks.
  19. You keep posting the same thing. Yawn.
  20. the Pink Floyd Facebook page just posted this: "Pink Floyd can confirm that they are releasing a new album "The Endless River" in October 2014. It is an album of mainly ambient and instrumental music based on the 1993/4 Division Bell sessions which feature David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright. The album is produced by David Gilmour with Phil Manzanera, Youth and recording engineer Andy Jackson. Work is still in progress, but more details to come at the end of the Summer."
  21. There is supposed to be an official press release tomorrow. A couple details have been confirmed: Roger Waters is not involved. They will not be touring.
  22. No, this is not a lost album from 1973, the release date was 2013.
  23. R.I.P. I adore this album...
