  1. Wow! I didn't know that. Always thought Bill Smith was still involved.
  2. Wow I might get this before I get the Mosaic Savory set. Do you have this one?
  3. I've thought of spending a couple of days doing it for myself on my computer.
  4. It was sort of fun to have the vocals in one channel and the instruments in the other on the early Beatles stereo releases.
  5. I'm happy to see that cd 2 of this volume is from 1944 at the Hurricane rather than 1953 at the Blue Note. Makes me more excited to get it.
  6. I have that one. Saw him a couple of times with the Neville Bros and (IIRC) once with The Meters.
  7. Apparently the Ellington estate is handled by some lawyers who are very difficult to deal with. Sometimes Duke's granddaughter and nephew are able to able to get them to approve of things but since this involves money it may be that, as with the Goodman holdings, if you want to hear them you'll have to go to Harlem.
  8. He did a couple of records of Fran Landesman compositions. They're good.

    Herb Geller

He's on a Gil Evans concert DVD done in 1983.
  10. It won't help if you peruse the board via "activity" as I do. (Why is this in italics?)
  11. I gotta admit that I prefer Spector and Wilson in stereo. They sound compressed to me in mono. But then again I never heard them on 45s. I was too old for that when they were new.
  12. But they must have eventually sold them all....Or did the license run out? Was it the same as the cd set which they still have?
  13. But this has a whole cd of Basie-Prez that was not issued as a download.
  14. Just got an e-mail saying that it won't ship till mid-May. Gave sone reasons re: "approvals" that I really didn't understand. By then I should be able to have listened to the Teddy Wilson set for the 3 or four times which I think it deserves.
  15. Is it still up? Anyway to access it?
  16. Any idea how many Lps and cds you're moving?

I haven't been able to figure out how they came up with 2047 for recorded works. My (perhaps incorrect) understanding is that films made in 1923 became pd this year and on January 1, 2019 films made in 1924 go pd but no sound recording that isn't already pd will become so until 2047 at which point I presume everything recorded before 1952 is free game. . (I doubt that many "authors" involved will not have been dead for less that 75 years.) Anyone here know anything about this?
  18. I can't believe no one here's talking about Ohtani after Sunday's game.
  19. Mosaic's Sunday Jazz Gazette this week still said it's coming out in April.
  20. My problem is I received it twice. They told me my credit card was no good so I opened a new account with a different e-mail. Then I received the set from both accounts. And they charged both accounts.
  21. Through my stupidity I now have two copies of this. I'll send an un-open one to anyone who donates $25 to the board. (Which I see hasn't received any donations for a while.) You can pm me.
  22. Thanks a lot for this.
