  1. I've been concentrating on getting some nice reissues and a few recent originals on vinyl, lately. IMO, vinyl is a long, long way from dead. Great music and a few with stunning, state of the art sound. I'm in vinyl heaven. I get tired, at times, of buying older originals for various reasons. Thus, the concentration on reissues and new originals. A couple that have got me glued to the couch: Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim (Rhino) Nat Cole: Just One Of Those Things(S&P) Laura Cantrell: When the Roses Bloom Again(Sundazed) Brian Wilson: Smile There are more, but you get the idea. Waiting for the arrival of my first vinyl from the Eighty-Eight's label. Also, waiting impatiently for Analogue Production's latest blues Direct To Disc LP's. I've got a feeling they are going to be something else. D2D is 2005!! Who would have thunk it??
  2. Thanks, all. This will be my first Johnny Shines.
  3. I think 'gingerwolf' is the spouse of a former Mosaic collector. He said, "Honey, if you have to sell them, at least ask for a good price."
  4. WOW!! About 50 Mosaic LP sets up for bid at the moment. First batch ends in 22 hours. Maybe I'll get a 'deal'.....

    The Meters

Bought and listened to my first Meters album (Zony Mash..Sundazed LP) today. There will be more.
  6. Yes, they are indeed very nice. I love it when my expectations are far exceeded in a music purchase.
  7. I'd check into how much sending it Registered would cost. It will stay in someone's possession or locked up every step of the way.
  8. Utterly and completely impressed!! Waited a bit to pick up the gorgeous 2LP set. Very glad I finally got it. I'd love to see/hear a sequel. Side note: Some of the best sound I've heard in years!!
  9. Musicians: Johnny Shines, vocals, guitar Walter 'Shakey' Horton, harmonica Willie Dixon, bass Clifton Jones, drums Otis Spann, piano (Track 6) Great, good or poor album in your opinion? Thinking of getting the pricey LP reissue.
  10. I do not think many of these will sell. Starting price is too high. MOSAIC LP SETS
  11. If you are going to play this thing often I would pick up a 78 cartridge. Shure, Grado and Rega make nice affordable units. Shure makes a cartridge that accepts their 78 stylus(wider for the 78 grooves), so you can just swap it in and out with the standard Shure stylus.
  12. The Meters: Zony Mash (Sundazed LP) Laura Cantrell: When The Roses Bloom Again (Sundazed LP) Brian Wilson: Smile (2LP) The Butterfield Blues Band: My Own Dream (Sundazed LP) Dylan: John Wesley Harding (Sundazed LP)
  13. The Meters: Zony Mash (Sundazed) Laura Cantrell: When The Roses Bloom Again (Sundazed) Brian Wilson: Smile The Butterfield Blues Band: My Own Dream (Sundazed) Dylan: John Wesley Harding (Sundazed)
  14. All that for an eBay auction of average BN titles
  15. Duke Ellington: Piano in the Foreground (Classic Records LP CS-8829) Johnny Griffin: A Blowin' Session (MONO) (Classic Records LP BN-1559) Eddie Henderson: So What (Eighty-Eight's LP)
  16. Mastering engineers?
  17. I love that album. I haven't listened to it in a while, but I played it non-stop for a couple of weeks when it was released. How's their first? Any comments on the following? COLDPLAY/PARACHUTES ELLIOTT SMITH/EITHER OF MONTREAL/CHERRY PEEL IRON & WINE/THE CREEK DRANK THE CRADLE UNWRITTEN LAW/ELVA
  18. Isaac Hayes: Hot Buttered Soul (Mobile Fidelity reissue) Ella and Louis Again (Mobile Fidelity 2LP reissue)
  19. Art Pepper Mosaic LP set
  20. Aretha Franklin: I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You) 4 Men With Beards LP Herbie Hancock: Blow Up (Original Soundtrack) 4 Men With Beards LP June Christy: Something Cool (Cisco LP) Bailey, Dave Sextet- Gettin Into Something LP Brown, James: Cold Sweat LP Brown, James: I Got You (I Feel Good) LP
  21. Me too. Not real intersted in it myself. Just thought I'd post it, as vinyl boxes are rare these days. Maybe I'll read more about this set as people buy it. Some nice single analog LP"s would be right up Sundazed's alley.
  22. Art Blakey's Jazz Mesengers With Thelonious Monk(Atlantic). Just picked up the 4 Men With Beards vinyl reissue of this and I'll be damnded if it ain't a greeezzzzy one. Maybe not your standard greeze(something a bit more subtle, but just as deep), but greeze nonetheless.
