  1. Thanks for the tip, Brownie. For some reason I did not have this one on my watch list. I bid, but it was just a bit low. $721 won.
  2. All pros?? In all steps of the chain? Tube mics seem to be popular.
  3. Some people prefer the sound of tubes. They enjoy listening to their music via tube equipment. They listened and chose tubes. Simple as that. All solid state gear sounds the same??? I have not found that to be true.
  4. It was also released on vinyl. Vinyl??? How stupid!!!!

    Stevie Wonder

Pissin' all over a harmless, feel good thread. Well done. LMAO Full moon???? Why don't you guys have the courage to start your own negative threads. Hint. Title it: Why Stevie Wonder should not have his unreleased material released...... Amazing what some of you bring to the table. I'm really sorry Stevie Wonder is more popular than all but a few jazz musicians ever will be, and is called a genius IMO he has brought more joy and aesthetics to music lovers that only a few jazz artists have achieved. Go ahead and degrade because he was in the wrong genre. A genre that is still trying to catch up to his influence. He changed pop/R&B as much as other genius musicians changed their genres.
  6. Yes, I avoid them. Too bad the general buying public does not have a clue as these labels take up valuable shelf space in the USA, where they are illegal.
  7. Aretha Franklin: Aretha- Live At Fillmore West (4 Men With Beards reissue) Incredable!! The crowd sings along on Dr. Feelgood. Brother Ray drops by. No one touches Redding for the live stuff, but she gives it a shot.
  8. Herbie Hancock: Blow-Up Sountrack(Sundazed) Trippy , yet very enjoyable album.
  9. Holy f@#$k, that was cheap! $128.50 Maybe this is the reason - I'm very sorry, but the four very large Mosaic sets I am offering this week are available to U.S. bidders only due to weight, packaging, and shipping costs. Yeah, I'm still kicking myself. I was bidding on some Commodores at the time and somehow missed this. I'm pretty sure he would have outbid me, but I could of at least kept him honest.
  10. where did I (even) imply this? Sorry. It is a surprise to see this title on vinyl. But now that I think about it makes sense. I'm assuming it was made easier by the folks at Runt and their vinyl pressing/packaging already going full blast.
  11. Somebody wants the Mobley LP set pretty bad.
  12. Where did I say I was interested in vinyl 'only' for sound? I like vinyl so I can read the liner notes. Sometimes I buy it just to support the format. A ton of reasons why I buy vinyl. At times 'sound' is a factor. I'm already assuming it's digital. I have plenty of 'digital' LP's that sound good. I have plenty of analog LP's that sound terrible. FWIW..I e-mailed Revenant, and digital or analog was one of my questions. BTW...you should really let 4 Men have a couple Nessa titles. they do a great job.
  13. Yes, I've seen the CD box and it's a beauty. The LP set comes with a poster, postcards, and my favorite, printed inner sleeves. Hopefully, the interviews(if included) are on a sepearte LP. I could see getting a Mosaic sized box to house these in to make access easier. I don't like 3LP gatefold sets.
  14. Rumor is there will be more 3 LP sets to go along with the one in stores now. Maybe, I'll get around to e-mailing Revenant or Runt(their distributor) to get a confirmation. The set is on my short list. Waiting for another good sale at Red Trumpet or Elusive Disc. While I'm here.....The new Springsteen is out on vinyl(2LP) In addition, the 3 jazz titlles from Sundazed are finally available.
  15. Art Pepper Plus Eleven(Contemporary/Fantasy reissue) What a nice find IMO...I believe this is a Sheffield Lab Remaster from the 70's, from after Fantasy bought Contemporary, but before they remastered in-house(OJC). Pure joy to listen to. Feels like I can reach out and touch the band. I've heard the Acoustic Sounds 45RPM edition is mind blowingly good and I can believe it.

    Test of Time Records

Interesting!!! From what I've heard 88's is one of the few labels doing SACD right. Seems like SONY has bailed on SACD. Be nice for those into the format to get these titles. I see East Wind(Japan) has released quite a few of these titles as CD's.

    Test of Time Records

With DSD being used, you'd think these will be released as SACD somewhere. Japan? Have not seen anything about it at 88' site.

I wish them luck. I know there is a connection between 441, 88's and Avatar. More details. Does 88's have a stock in 441? Maybe, 88's will release in analog/vinyl in Japan. I can hope. Remastered using DSD, but these are going to be CD's? Makes no sense to me.
  19. Is there a type of "Wedding insurance" to cover this?
  20. Yes. I'd start by asking who does the repairs for your local hi-fi shops that sell used gear.
  21. Clifford Brown LP set. The 'A Night At Birdland' sides.
  22. PFunky does not post here for a year and then brings this weak shit into the paint.
  23. I've been wondering why the Get Back label has not dipped into the Blue Note catalogue. Get Back vinyl
  24. Miles Davis Young Man With a Horn (Blue Note/Classic Records 10" LP Sealed) Miles Davis Volume 3 (Blue Note/Classic Records 10" LP Sealed)
  25. You really need to start using your own ears. Tube pre-amp review Specs do not tell the whole story. The only distortion I'm bothered by is in the software of poorly recorded CD's and LP's.
