  1. Jimmy Cleveland VEE is listed at Jazz house records (UK) for £8 Jazz House Records
  2. I thought this thread was going to be about a new Apple product that wasn't worth buying....
  3. I'm not sure really why I ordered this as I'm hardly a Hendrix completist having only single "best of " CD of his. Perhaps this 4cd set is too much of a good thing but it's very nicely done in great sound and some really cracking versions of my favourites such as Hey Joe , Purple Haze etc .
  4. not sure if this counts as comic style but...
  5. Glad to see Alyn's reputation spread, his talent deserves it.
  6. Bobby Jaspar 1956 New York
  7. Mary Halvorson- guitar- very distinctive and young
  8. I must listen more closely as Guarnieri never struck me as in the same league as others mentioned here
  9. another :tup for this one,
  10. I regret to not knowing Collier's music at all , I did however, just a few days before his death order one of his BGO compilations because I was impressed by his contributions to Harry Beckett's Flare Up . Looking forward to hearing more.
  11. John Jenkins featuring Kenny Burrell- Toshiba Japan- the excess of the cymbals heard on the conn Cd are tamed on this version which is all mono (unlike the Conn). Probably needs a middle ground- how's the MM issue of this . Anyone ?
  12. I don't have anything against Clapton or Wynton , I like Cream , but the clips sound bloated ,cavernous and about as far from the blues as I can imagine. I won't be buying.
  13. Black beauty Victor Afro eurasian eclipse Money Jungle Side by Side Far East Suite
  14. Miles Davis - Bitches Brew - Columbia UK ( orange label)- this recent purchase sounds so much better than the late 80s CD version.
  15. Colin is right. I play this set quite a bit, it still sits on the shelf near the HiFi, a rare honour accorded to among others Beatles mono, Thomas Chapin -Alive, Bob Dylan Mono box and handful of single CDs I can't put away.
  16. Why is it a bizarre decision? Because it will affect Hep too? Bizarre because it's apparently retrospective which is unusual I would have thought. Nothing to with Hep but I named them as they have never been labelled one of the bad guys in the past but appear to have the full force of the EU heading their way.
  17. I presume that Hep will be in a similar position . Bizarre decision
  18. Lee Morgan disc 1 CD Flurin the Turrenrine is excellent , I recall some complaints about the sound but its just fine . Enjoy
  19. I had these both some time and they are excellent for the light they shine on the two leaders.I particularly like the Schildkraut. Wish I had anything else by him ( other than Walkin by Miles)
  20. Happy birthday , hope it went well !!! Adrian
  21. it was £75 , which makes it the most expensive LP I've ever bought, but given it's condition and prices on Popsike seems like a good enough deal, obviously not cheap and i've blown my Lp budget for this month and next !! Besides that the money all goes to charity - at least it helps justify the decision to pick it up .
  22. Yes, most definitely. Sonically, although more than acceptable, this isn't the greatest recording quality (John Taylor's 'Pause & Think Again' for Turtle Records is similar, in that regard). I've not heard the CD but I'd agree, the LP sounds good enough but it's no RVG. It's a very fine session and the copy I got is in mint condition , so it's as good as it's likely to get. Thank you Oxfam
  23. Today's purchase and currently spinning Harry Becket - Flare Up - Philips (UK)
  24. Anthony Williams - Spring and Lifetime NY mono
  25. These are very good , many better than that... Good eye for composition which has helped make sense of some fairly chaotic looking scenes.
