  15. Sun Ra, Prophet
  16. Nicholas Payton, The Couch Sessions (Smoke Sessions)
  17. Samara Joy, Linger Awhile
  18. The Urbane Jazz of Benny Carter and Roy Eldridge, (American Recording Society) Gabor Szabo, Bacchanal (Skye)
  19. Donald Byrd, Cookin' with Blue Note at Montreux
  20. Jazzbuhne Berlin '85 volume 12 is actually the best Ulmer/Adams collaboration recording.
  21. Ornette and Prime Time/James Blood Ulmer/Ronald Shannon Jackson--all were at the apex of the best live music I heard in the 1980s. Very fortunate to have seen them all multiple times.
  22. They are both real good.

  24. Yes, but with all the Lester Young, Ben Webster, Roy Eldridge, Benny Carter, Illinois Jacquet, Coleman Hawkins, and Dizzy Gillespie on the set, you will live.
  25. You are missing Ronald Shannon Jackson. Ronald Shannon Jackson and the Decoding Society: When Colors Play and Texas (Caravan of Dreams). Personal favorites after hearing the band on these recordings for five sets one weekend. Also, Chico Hamilton: Euphoria (Swallow). Chico Hamilton hires most of Ronald Shannon Jackson's band.
