  1. "YanLowe"? Guaranteed ass-whuppin' after school, but that may make him into a determined creative musician. Or a serial killer. Good luck w/all that!
  2. I just got this in the mail along with a Clark Terry quintet/big band DVD and a Stitt/J.J./Howard Magee DVD that I've seen before but haven't owned. Love that ImproJazz label! Looking forward to digging in to these!
  3. I don't really drive on long vacation/business trips, but I do fly quite a bit and am really feeling the crunch of increasing fares & fees and decreasing service. I notice they're going to start charging to check ALL bags. I'm just waiting for them to have you step on a scale to determine your fare. I'm glad I don't have a SUV, my Subaru Forrester gets pretty decent mileage. I expect my next car will be a hybrid. I'm curious as to how much this has impacted folks here.
  4. Do they still have live music at Katz's? I used to play there every now and then. Another Texas place I miss.... ....and the chicken-fried steak at Threadgill's..... Lon, do you remember a club called Copa's? How about Piggy's? (both from the 80s)
  5. I lived on Bull Creek for awhile, very close to the original. It was a favorite post-gig hang.
  6. Also.....Trudy's....mmmmmmmmm Also....I use to love this place, hope it's still as good......
  7. Austin is a wonderful city. Great food, music and entertainment. I sure enjoyed my years there. Enjoy, and congratulations on making the change you wanted!
  8. Also McCoy Tyner played it on a cut on "Trident", I believe. Celeste reminds me of Mr. Rogers, harpsichord reminds me of Lurch on the Addams Family. Ah, television.
  9. .............and henceforth you shall be known as "Knoj".
  10. Which was actually "Scotch & Water". The composer's name was mentioned and mis-heard as being the title of the tune. .........and just who WAS that composer, MG?
  11. Beef and chicken kabobs and grilled asparagus tonight. Just got a Weber Q grill and am really lovin' it!
  12. Calling Allen Lowe. I think we've solved your problem.
  13. I thought they had quit making this, but today I saw it at the store. Yippee! Great stuff!
  14. There are many beautiful huge & ancient looking live oak trees round here. Quite impressive, and the Spanish moss adds to the beauty.
  15. I ordered one (for the $21.98 price) and my Amazon account currently indicates it will be shipped between May 29th and June 11th.
  16. Unless, of course, you soil yourself.
  17. A Very Happy Birthday To You, Your Crustiness! You are one of the best reasons to hang out here and weather the abuse. Thank you for all you've done to further the music. Love and best wishes to you and the Mrs.! You put Whitehall on the map (second only to the SWAT team, of course...)
  18. I appreciate the info! Thanks!
  19. Question: Do Blu-Ray players play non Blu-Ray DVDs? I mean, if I get one, will my current DVD collection be toast? Or do I need to keep my old DVD player in order to play what I've already got? I do currently have what I guess is called an "up-convertable" DVD player which helps my current DVDs to be compatible with my HDTV. After years of purchasing and re-purchasing LPs, cassettes and CDs (and DVDs) I'm not really interested in starting yet another re-buying jaunt.
