  1. HBKYO! Let's see, I turned 30 in 1988. That was right about when I moved to Chicago, lived two blocks from Wrigley Field. That was a very good year! Hope yours is great!
  2. *onty *lexander and *cott *amilton? *ose *llison and *lide *ampton?
  3. Many excellent choices Al! The Golsons, the Clark Terrys, and I really like the Ben Webster, 'cause (besides Ben and "Joe's Avenue") I love Thad in any way, shape or form- he has a great tune he wrote on "In Walked Love" changes. Guess which one it is!
  4. My first attempt at Shrimp Pad Thai. Have to say it came out well!
  5. That's it! Banished!
  6. Yeah, THAT'S it, I'm just interested in the "horn section writing". Why, I'm not even a FAN of that bum Scofield! Did I mention I'm dating Morgan Fairchild? Yeah, THAT'S the ticket!
  7. PM sent (from PM)
  8. Sorry to hear about his passing. I've long been impressed by his arranging skills, and will admit to owning and enjoying the Singers Unlimited box. I expect much of their output might be considered too muzak-like for many here, but I enjoy the quality and harmonic sophistication of the arrangements (and Bonnie Herman is one talented singer!). RIP
  9. I just visited my local B&N (for the first time, actually). Turns out they just sell books, no CDs. Damn. Looks like they'll all be that way soon!
  10. I didn't realize he was still around! The Rhodes rules! I grew up with this music on the radio, and I still listen to it now and then. Damned if it doesn't still groove like a MF! Also, his records were popular "nookie" choices in college. From what I hear, that is..........
  11. You mean the "finest in jazz since 1939" logo? Wow, good eyes, HG!
  12. BeBop seems to have been asleep on this one! Sad but true, although B&N has been a last choice for me because of high prices and lack of coupons/sales (though I will admit to taking advantage of their Concord sale a few years back).
  13. Ahhh, just as I suspected!
  14. Have to say, some of it looks pretty good. 50 hours in a row though, that's bordering on some "waterboarding" shit. Free For All thinks aloc is quite fond of the "rolling eyes smiley".
  15. That is an unusually long time. I've never had anything but fast service from Mosaic. Is there a tracking number? (DHL, right?) Lester will leap in soon, I'm sure!
  16. GA must have missed this one......
  17. Hmmm....it would seem that we have conflicting stories here.
  18. Well, I'd have to say I thoroughly enjoyed Sam's brief stint w/Miles. He definitely brought a different dynamic to the music than George or Wayne, and I think Tony played differently with him in the band.
  19. Happy Birthday to the best smelling man in jazz!
