Many excellent choices Al! The Golsons, the Clark Terrys, and I really like the Ben Webster, 'cause (besides Ben and "Joe's Avenue") I love Thad in any way, shape or form- he has a great tune he wrote on "In Walked Love" changes. Guess which one it is!

Sorry to hear about his passing. I've long been impressed by his arranging skills, and will admit to owning and enjoying the Singers Unlimited box. I expect much of their output might be considered too muzak-like for many here, but I enjoy the quality and harmonic sophistication of the arrangements (and Bonnie Herman is one talented singer!). RIP

Well, I'd have to say I thoroughly enjoyed Sam's brief stint w/Miles. He definitely brought a different dynamic to the music than George or Wayne, and I think Tony played differently with him in the band.
