The Byas recording that first blew me away was a cut on the Smithsonian collection. It was I Got Rhythm, done as a duo with Slam Stewart, full of hard swing, impeccable time and a ton of contemporary harmonic content. I became a fan at that point!

Not sure if it's been discussed on any of the Ellis threads, but John Vizzusi has a documentary on Don Ellis comnig out that looks pretty interesting. Anyone here seen it yet?
Well, my contempt for Vista has been well documented here. My OS has been buggy at every turn. I'd much prefer XP.
I'm going back to Mac very soon.
