  9. The blue trident was the original release of this album. That was when those damned 'electronically remastered' LPs were popular (for all the wrong reasons ) 'Strange Blues' was made up of 'leftovers' from three McLean sessions for Prestige. Don't think it was issued by the label in its original mono sound in vinyl..
  10. Spanish chef Ferran Adria served his last meal today at his restaurant El Bulli, north of Barcelona. AP story via CBSNews The restaurant has been ranked as the world's best a number of times in the last ten years. A typical dinner at El Bulli I was lucky to enjoy meals at the place twice (at lunchtime before they restricted meals to dinnertime back in 2001 as the place really went into the success era). A meal there was an incredible experience. When you were presented the menu card (about 30 course), first reaction was 'impossible'. But yes it was possible. Each new dish was better than the previous ones. Satisfaction guaranteed. Menu's price? Expensive but it was worth every cent! I am not really surprised the restaurant did not make money! Even when all the tables were full which was the case every day, there were more people in the kitchen than diners! Long live Ferran Adria! Hope to go back there after it reopens as a foundation in 2014!
  11. Jimmy Lyons 'The Box Set' (Ayler), discs 1 and 2

  13. The Peace-Maker' side 2 track list: - Timetable 4:15 - Imagine 3:22 - The Aquarian 5:25 - One for Nini 4:57
  14. Some details. The session was initially released on the Mosaic Johnny Hodges 1956-1961 box. Great music for those who don't have the Mosaic!
  15. What's your take, brownie? I like some early Ellis - New Ideas, Out of Nowhere - never got into How Time Passes. His later stuff has no interest for me. I know that Essence is earlier, but I've never heard it so I'm interested in your opinion. I like those early Don Ellis appearances (especially those with George Russell, and also with Mingus) and 'Essence' is an album that stands out very well. Won't say the same with the later stuff. Not a fan of his big band!
  16. There seems to have been only one release from the Cadel LP. The album was reissued on LP and CD in Japan but no audio samples seem to be available on the regular download market!
