  1. I'm here only because of that Mosaic gift card. I know nothing about that Grey Cup All I know is that I stopped once in Winnipeg and was not very impressed by what I managed to see in a very short time. I can still dream about Saskatchewan! So Roughriders 42 points!
  2. Dexter Gordon & Slide Hampton 'A Day In Copenhagen' (MPS France, stereo) with Dizzy Reece, Kenny Drew, NHOP and Art Taylor
  3. Great find, indeed The sets could not find a worthier home! Congratulations!
  4. Welcome Elaine Georgette Congratulations to all concerned!
  5. The disc was mentioned on the Sun Ra Forum a couple of years ago. Not sure I really want to get that release!
  6. The Jazz Unlimited CD has pretty detailed liner notes (by Mark Gardner) but gives no indication on the audio source.
  7. The Zoot Sims Four 'The Innocent Years' (Pablo) with Richard Wyands, Frank Tate and Akira Tana
  8. Congratulations, Jim Leading the way, as always!
  9. Can't believe that price! Something's wrong there!
  10. Duke Jordan 'Misty Thursday' (SteepleChase) with Chuck Wayne, Sam Jones and Roy Haynes
  11. Vinyls do seem on their way back. Even Amazon.com has its own specific vinyl section now
  12. John Graas 'Jaz Lab 2' (Decca) with Jack Montrose, Bill Perkins, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones and others!
  13. You're entering Borgesland? Congratulations, you're into a whole continent. Been reading him for years and still exploring the territory. One of the few writers you never get tired of!
  14. It's been a long time since French soccer had reasons to congratulate their Italian neighbors. Italy did France a very good service in view of France's lackluster 2-2 performance against Morocco on Friday. Now the French team had better get its act together before the European Cup. But that's a different - and very old - story!
  15. Charlie Rouse 'Epistrophy' (Landmark) with Don Cherry (one one track), George Cables, Jessica Williams, etc...
  16. Too bad that Jerry Newman and Dean Benedetti did not share taping duties. With the missing gaps being then made available, we would have more immortal music available music by now.
  17. That was also my opinion of the album with Dizzy
  18. Damn! looks like J.A.W. kept to his word. He has not posted since I sure hope he makes it back here. This forum is unfortunately not stupid-free! J.A.W. is the kind of participants we need here!
  19. Long time ago I heard their album of Billy Strayhorn tunes. Can't say I was impressed and never bothered about the duo after. Did I really miss something?
  20. Max Roach/Archie Shepp 'The Long March' (Hat Hut)
  21. The classic Billie Holiday version (with Barney Kessel on guitar and Benny Carter on alto) on Verve... .. and even if I love the Jackie Mc Lean version of the tune on 'Swing, Swang, Swinging' I still prefer Jackie Mac's earlier version on the 'Makin' the Changes' album. Also the Armstrong/Peterson version (Paul Secor already mentioned that one, of course!).
  22. Randy Weston Select, disc 2
  23. Not to be picky - just setting the record straight - Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim wrote the lyrics for Gypsy - a big Broadway hit in 1959. My Fair Lady (1956) was written by Lerner and Loewe (w. a bit of help from G.B. Shaw). Lerner and Loewe, of course Thanks for setting the record straight, Paul!
  24. Sidney Bechet 'The Complete Sidney Bechet' (Jazz Tribune), Volumes 3/4 (1941)
