  1. Seems there is no way a confrontation between France and Italy can be avoided in those tournaments France had better get a working team by European Cup time!
  2. The Isetta album cover...
  3. Let's all agree that the Michael Fitzgerald discography is the site to go when you research on some 60 musicians. But if you want to look for discographies of Coleman Hawkins, Chu Berry, Al Cohn, Zoot Sims, Gene Ammons, etc.. to restrict ourselves to tenor saxophone players, where do you search? The Lord provides this. Plus considering the cost of individual discographies when you can purchase them, the cost is not that steep. The previous discographies (Delaunay, Jepsen, McCarthy etc...) were pretty expensive. And contained plenty of errors and omissions. I thank the Lord that it exists!
  4. Bad pick for France. That's going to be a tough one (against Italy and Holland)
  5. Sam Jones Trio 'The Bassist!' (Interplay) with Kenny Barron and Keith Copeland
  6. Kaka gets the Ballon d'Or trophy 2007 as Europe's best player: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/7123560.stm A well-deserved award!
  7. You'll love it ! Couldn't you keep it on your side It's over here by now
  8. The December 2007 issue of Jazz Magazine celebrates the 50th anniversary of the recording of the soundtrack of 'Ascenseur Pour l'Echafaud'. All in French. It includes articles/interviews on Jeanne de Mirbeck, René Urtreger's sister, who recalls her involvement with Miles. She was Miles' French girlfriend for several years. René Urtreger also has fascinating recollections about the recording session and his tour wit Miles Davis. Good article also on impresario/record producer Marcel Romano who died last August. Plus other interviews.
  9. Those two were not part of the Discoveries series. They were released shortly after the disappearances of the Discoveries. Same spirit:
  10. Tommy Flanagan Trio 'Speak Low' (Progressive Japan) with George Mraz and Al Foster
  11. Peter Brotzmann and a whole bunch of blowers at Vision Festival 1985. Plenty more vidoes of Brotz on youtube
  12. Yep - My V1 certainly has one. So has mine! I have also included a copy of a very interesting 12-page article/interview of Milt Gabler that appeared in the February 1988 issue of Audio magazine.
  13. We're still in the middle of Autumn here. Mild temperatures. Storm expected to hit western France today.
  14. Those Jazz Kings and Alamac vinyls had those bland/undistinctive covers that looked cheaply made. I don't think I ever bought one even if they issued interesting music.

    Forever pathetic...
  17. Jazz Kings was a reissue label. They mostly reissued albums originally released on Urania (Coleman Hawkins, Jimmy Hamilton, T, Lucky Thompson, etc...). They were part of the Alamac records label.
  18. I have the FreshSound reissue from 2003. Made in Spain. Also obviously licensed from Urania.
