The Winehouse disaster, to be continued... From AFP
  8. Hope you also have the cd with the extra 21 minutes. Not brownie, but I only have the LP version. Thanks for letting us know, but I hate when they add extra material and I end up buying it again. edit: On reflection, this band is worth paying extra $ for 21 more minutes. And I did get to listen to the LP for 20 some years. So I'm happy they added the extra music. This is what happens when I write before I think. That's news to me too OK one more disc to purchase. At least, it should be money well spent. Another thing: I HATE YOU CHUCK
  9. Maurice Jaubert, mais oui François Truffaut who worshiped Jean Vigo (Zéro de Conduite, L'Atalante) was a great fan of Jaubert's scores and used his music in four of his films 'L'Histoire d'Adèle H', 'L'Argent de Poche', 'L'Homme Qui Aimait les Femmes' and 'La Chambre Verte' (one of Truffaut's most personal film and one of his very best).
  10. Buddy Bregman also happens to be composer Jule Styne's nephew. He was hired by Norman Granz in 1955 when Styne and Sondheim had a huge hit on Broadway with 'My Fair Lady'. Granz had Bregman work with Anita O'Day on her album 'Anita' which was a success. Anita O'Day had nice things to say about him in her biography 'High Times, Had Times', if I remember right. Bregman also arranged the Annie Ross album 'Gypsy' for World Pacific. A very nice one
  11. Kenny Drew 'Jazz Impressions of Pal Joey' (Riverside, stereo) with Wilbur Ware and Philly Joe Jones
  12. Don't mind the new one, as long as Rooster got rid of his bug
  13. More recommendations in this earlier thread!
  14. Use Firefox. Good advice! I use Firefox. No problem with AMG!
  15. Johnny Dyani Quartet 'Song for Biko' (SteepleChase) with Don Cherry, Dudu Pukwana and Makaya Ntsoko
  16. Budd Johnson was irreplaceable
  17. By May 1960, Clark Terry and Budd Johnson had returned to the States. The others stayed with Quincy Jones until he gave up trying to keep the band alive in Europe.
  18. The Smarts are pretty visible on the streets of Paris. Rather convenient small cars. However they rarely show up on roads. Not sure they are very good value for the money...
  19. Lou Donaldson with Red Garland Trio 'Fine and Dandy' (LOB, Japan)
  20. That's what I have. Noticed my copy did not have inside liner notes that come with most Japanese vinyl releases. Can't say there ever was one!
  21. Couldn't find it on a French site. Here is a German one. There are several other German (or Swiss) sites that sell them. Good luck!
  22. Got it Can't remember where I found this Japanese vinyl original. But it still has the original obi. Nice date!
  23. This is how the 2008 The Giants of Jazz calendar of Francis Wolff looks like: The marks are from the shrinkwrap cover.
  24. The Montreux Arista LPs are stereo. A narrowspread stereo as Claude already mentioned, but stereo!
  25. Don Friedman 'Avenue of the Americas' (Owl)
