Enjoyed the music by Sunny Murray and his musicians last night.
The cellar at L'Atelier Tampon was crowded but since it's a small place, attendance by more than 60 people created problems. The evening was filmed by a full camera crew and will be incorporated in a documentary about Sunny Murray now being made.
Sunny Murray who was in a playful mood adressed the spectators with a friendly warning 'No cigarettes. If you want to smoke, you go outside'. He looked better than ever.
The music turned out to be very well thought out with a good mix of slow and medium tempo tunes. A rather subdued Murray kept in the background, making sure the soloists were getting the appropriate support. He played mostly brushes and kept the flame alive throughout the proceedings. Simmons, Raux and Few all had enough solo spaces.
Midshow was a fine opportunity to sample the excellent wines brought in by small winegrowers who insist on making original and authentic wines with 'grapes, more grapes and nothing but grapes'.
It mixed well with the music
