  1. Wishing them a prompt recovery! And hoping they will make more beautiful music together
  2. Mmmm, according to the auction description it's an "original Dutch pressing", while the label on the picture clearly mentions "Made in Denmark"... I have that album with the same Folkways-style jacket. And Made in Denmark pressing! This was the original issue.
  3. Tadd Dameron with Fats Navarro at Royal Roost is well known. The same two at Birdland is unknown. Which label is that Birdland album?
  4. But you have Ruby Braff, Vic Dickenson, Pee Wee Russell on that Newport Wein! Love Supreme for me As for those new CDs length, I picked up the Kid Ory at the Théatre des Champs-Elysées. The CD adds seven tracks to the original eight that were on the Verve release. Those additional sides were probably on the Mosaic Kid Ory Verve set (can't trace a discography to that one!). Total length is 70m40s. I see several of these new JinP at my favorite store for under €5, so I'm not complaining!
  5. Ben Webster 'Autumn Leaves' (Futura) with the Georges Arvanitas trio!
  6. The new releases are on display at the UniversalMusic.fr website now... JinP March releases
  7. Not the Dr. Lonnie Liston Smith! Identified as plain Lonnie Smith on the album back cover!
  8. Roland Kirk 'Now please don'you cry, beautiful Edith' (French Verve 1983 reissue) with Lonnie Smith, Ronnie Boykins, Grady Tate
  9. GIANT
  10. That's right. But he founded the company that still bears his name. Red Rose Music
  11. John Benson Brooks 'Alabama Concerto' (Riverside, stereo, black label) with Art Farmer, Cannonball Adderley, Barry Galbraith, Milt Hinton
  12. Certainly not! Ron Jefferson was nowhere near great! He was a heavyhanded drummer relying on simple formulas. Had the misfortune of running into him on several occasions when he was in Paris in the mid-sixties. Not only was he a lousy drummer, he was also an obnoxious person! A musician to avoid!
  13. Bix Beiderbecke is seen playing with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra in May 1928 in this Movietone newsreel during the recording session for Columbia of 'My Ohio Home' (Gus Kahn-Walter Donaldson) http://www.dailymotion.com/visited/search/...x1fr78_bix-1928 First time I have ever watched Bix play
  14. One for chewy! Teddy Edwards sextet playing Edwards' composition 'Cellar Dweller' in 1964. Freddy Hill on trumpet, Richard Boone on trombone, John Houston on piano... Teddy Edwards 'Cellar Dweller'
  15. Yusef Lateef 'Jazz For Thinkers' (Savoy, 1984 replica reissue)
  16. In total agreement about that Hampton All Stars date which has yet to see a complete reissue. Mentioned this a long time ago on one of our Mosaic wish lists thread!
  17. Jackie McLean 'Steeplechase' (New Jazz, mono) with Bill Hardman, Mal Waldron, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones!
  18. Mark Levinson is mainly known nowadays for his celebrated highend hi-fi products: http://www.marklevinson.com/
  19. Hey, I worked long, long hours for years! Turned down several job offers when I retired! Enjoying all the free time I have now
  20. Was there ever a booklet with this? I had my mono original from Bernard Stollman after it came out. No booklet inside
  21. Victor Feldman is heard on drums on 'Cabaletto', a Feldman big band date with Dizzy Reece and Tubby Hayes, that is included in the Jasmine reissue 'Departure Dates'.
  22. Paul Bley Quintet 'Barrage' (ESP) with Dewey Johnson, Marshall Allen, Eddie Gomez, Milford Graves
  23. Saw this on eBay today For the Bird fan who needs everything: Charlie Parker Limited Edition Wrist Watch
  24. Victor Feldman also had a second album out on that Ava label. Never saw or heard that one. It was made of interpretations of music from the film 'David and Lisa'
  25. Don Friedman 'Hot Knepper and Pepper' (Progressive) with Jimmy K. and P. Adams, also George Mraz and Billy Hart!
