  3. Hey Brownie, you can bring back back your copy from the safety! ... and me who was hoping this would see me through financially until I reach 100
  4. What do you have already, and which is the best? This one is well documented. But it is only available in French! The cover (by Chenz) shows Jackie McLean at the Chat Qui Peche in 1961 with Jean-François Jenny Clark on bass and Aldo Romano on drums. Big Beat Steve already mentioned this one. It is a good read!
  5. It is NOT an original! My original mono orange vinyl has the letters RVG in the dead wax on both sides along with 'A10 - A 1' and 'A-10 B' signs on sides 1 and 2!
  6. Paul Quinichette 'On the Sunny Side' (Prestige 50thSt.)

Tony Scott with Billie Holiday and Charlie Parker, backstage at Carnegie Hall, November 14, 1952. The young boy is the unidentified photographer's son!
  14. Jimmy Knepper 'Cunningbird' (SteepleChase) with Al Cohn, Roland Hanna, George Mraz and Dannie Richmond
  15. The quote from that man was: “If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.”
  16. Enjoyed the music by Sunny Murray and his musicians last night. The cellar at L'Atelier Tampon was crowded but since it's a small place, attendance by more than 60 people created problems. The evening was filmed by a full camera crew and will be incorporated in a documentary about Sunny Murray now being made. Sunny Murray who was in a playful mood adressed the spectators with a friendly warning 'No cigarettes. If you want to smoke, you go outside'. He looked better than ever. The music turned out to be very well thought out with a good mix of slow and medium tempo tunes. A rather subdued Murray kept in the background, making sure the soloists were getting the appropriate support. He played mostly brushes and kept the flame alive throughout the proceedings. Simmons, Raux and Few all had enough solo spaces. Midshow was a fine opportunity to sample the excellent wines brought in by small winegrowers who insist on making original and authentic wines with 'grapes, more grapes and nothing but grapes'. It mixed well with the music
  17. Archie Shepp 'Fire Music' (Impulse, orange , mono)

Now that Mosaic has gone into single album releases, they should reissue the Columbia session 'Feeling Good'. What a superb LP this was! One of the most inventive trumpet playing ever. It was a 1965 live quartet date (with Sammy Price, Bennie Moten and drummer George Reed):

    Tony Scott RIP

Tony Scott was the first jazz musician I got really acquainted with. I met him when he traveled to Europe in 1957. He regaled listeners with stories about Charlie Parker, Billie Holiday and all those jazz greats he was friend with. I hope a book of his memories shows up soon... Our friendship continued for years with meetings in New York and in Paris. I was hoping to meet him again sometime in Italy. The man was full of life! It showed in his superb musicianship! Tony Scott was one of the few surviving musicians who played with Charlie Parker. Few of them are still with us! I miss him!
  20. More Tony Scott... Tony Scott and the All Stars '52nd Street Scene' (Coral, mono) with Joe Thomas, JC Higginbotham, Jimmy Knepper, Coleman Hawkins, Al Cohn, George Wallington and others
