  1. $621... Yikes ! Interesting! Two other McLean BNs from the same seller reached similar prices. 'Let Freedom Ring' went up to $563, 'It's Time' went up to $511! Got all three in excellent condition. All mono originals. 'Destination Out' was purchased directly at the BN offices on 61st Str. shortly after it was released. Got if from Frank Wolff direct! Bought these because I was (and still am) a diehard McLean fan. Did not realize then I was making an investment!
  2. Roy Eldridge 'The Complete Verve Studio Sessions', discs 1 and 2
  3. Andrew Cyrille Jeanne Lee Jimmy Lyons 'Nuba' (Black Saint)
  4. The most creative jazz violin album I have listened to these past few years is the shamefully neglected Atlantic album by Harry Lookofsky 'Stringsville' which seems to have not been reissued. Lookofsky is accompanied by Hank Jones, Milt Hinton (Paul Chambers on one session) and Elvin Jones. A masterpiece well worth looking for.
  5. Clifford Jordan 'Dr. Chicago' (Bee Hive) with Red Rodney, Jaki Byard, Ed Howard and Vernel Fournier
  6. Heywood Henry Eddie Heywood Eddie Harris
  7. Rooster, the liner notes to the Soulard CD indicate the jazz club was in the basement of the MidTown Hotel 'in the heart of the African-American community'. Good luck!
  8. Always liked the idea this has been taped on Bastille Day 1956! Ken Vail's 'Miles' Diary' chronology says the Miles Davis Quintet opened on July 13, 1956 'for a nine-day engagement'. But I trust the plosin Miles Ahead discography. The plosin site has the full list of the Soulard CD content, all 73m58s of it: The audio goes from very bad - up to the Red Garland feature 'A Foggy Day' where Garland sounds like he is playing electric piano! - to rather bad. Paul Chambers is undermiked through both dates! But the music is BAD!
  9. No shame here. I did wish a Happy Birthday in the 'What Are Your Listening To...' thread yesterday while enjoying 'The Duke in Washington' CD on Storyville
  10. Now listening to: John Coltrane 'Live in Comblain-la-Tour 1965' (Landscape)
  11. Chet Baker 'The Touch of Your Lips' (SteepleChase)
  12. Three threads? Impossible! Hope this is the right one... So: Happy Birthday
  13. I use my own judgement to purchase music. I do not care much for the usual critic reviews but I do trust a number of people on this Board and have purchased a lot of discs I would not have bothered if I had not been pointed to the right direction by those posters. No complaint so far, but my bank account is thinning down
  14. No problem here. I use yahoo.com as my homepage!
  15. Very nice! I can view my neighborhood now from way up top!
  16. Tyrone Washington 'Natural Essence' (BN, Liberty, stereo)
  17. The Complete Port of Harlem Jazzmen, vinyl
  18. Al Cohn 'No Problem' (Xanadu) with Barry Harris, Steve Gilmore, Walter Bolden
  19. The German label Membran has recently released the 'Cats vs. Chicks' MGM sides - plus the 'Hot vs. Cool' album - in their Original Long Play Albums series. Very much worth getting this. Just a reminder that the 'Cats vs. Chicks' features Norma Carson playing with a Terry Pollard group plus a Clark Terry-led group that has Urbie Green, Lucky Thompson, Horace Silver, Tal Farlow, Percy Heath and Kenny Clarke! The 'Hot vs. Cool' album has Dizzy Gillespie (with Buddy de Franco, Ray Abrams, etc...) opposing Jimmy McPartland (with Vic Dickenson, Edmund Hall, etc...)
  20. Mezzo will celebrate Miles Davis this month, including a full evening of Miles Davis related unreleased programs on May 26. Miles on Mezzo
  21. Milford Graves 'Percussion Ensemble With Sunny Morgan' (ESP)
  22. Are we lost in a Time Machine ?!? http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...=happy+birthday
  23. The release of this album by Verve was listed a few months ago on their website. It's no longer listed. Anyone knows if this was indeed reissued?
  24. Hell, I'll keep my Candid mono original! That's pure pleasure to me
