  1. Did not want to mean that On the contrary, we have good reasons in France not to shortsell the Israeli team. A lot of French soccer fans still remember the 2-3 defeat back in 1993 which eliminated the national team from the 1994 World Cup in the USA. Huge disappointment that came after hopes were raised skyhigh after France won the 1992 European championship!
  2. Oh! those Official vol. 1 and 2 'The Complete Trio Sessions with Tiny Grimes and Slam Stewart'. Got these when these CDs came out back in 1988! They include the January 5, 1944 (Brunswick), the May 1, 1944 (Comet) and the June 21, 1944 (Ash/Folkways) sessions. No Bethlehem connection in sight...
  3. Ernie Henry Presenting Ernie Henry (Riverside blue label) to be followed by: Ernie Henry Quartet Seven Standards and a Blues (Riverside, Fantasy reissue)
  4. I was talking about vinyls. Got the CD reissue and forgot to check that. I am a vinyl man
  5. An Australian joke, then Thanks, Mike!
  6. The French national team redeemed itself this week by scoring 3-0 against Ivory Coast in a friendly match as Zinedine Zidane made his comeback with the team and Thierry Henri proced useful to the national team - for a change! France has four matches ahead to qualify for the 2006 Cup all within the next few weeks. They will compete against the Faroe Islands, Ireland, Switzerland and Cyprus. The team cannot afford to lose any of these matches. The September 7 match against Ireland in Dublin will probably decide the team qualification.
  7. Feel totally stuupid about not guessing that track. I was a hundred percent sure about the drummer and almost a hundred about the baritone. Went through my vinyls from the date leader, I was sure he was involved. checked the tracks which had that kind of lineup and could not identify. Forgot that there was one of these albums I never could find in acceptable condition. Turns out it was that one Nice work indeed, Jim R
  8. Can anybody enlighten me on what's in the Bethlehem Tatum Trio rehearsals discs? Never saw these...

  10. The blurb about the Four Freshmen says indicates it contains 210 tracks, which is correct. What I don't understand is the mention 'Pieces in the set: 4'. The Mosaic box came with 3 pieces. Three 3-CD sets.
  11. Never saw the vinyl, tell me, is the 10+ minute silence and the "telephone conversation" on the fourth side, or how was this constructed? Great album BTW, very nicely connected through all the snippets and sounds ← Side 4 is all silent grooves except for a short (about one minute) phone conversation from Rahsaan at the end of it! Missed this until I saw it mentioned several years ago!
  12. Me 2
  13. Rahsaan Roland Kirk The Case of the 3 Sided Dream in Audio Color (Atlantic), all three sides...
  14. She's done this before. Want to be out of the music 'business' for a while. I can understand that. Another case of 'Just Leave Me Alone'. She'll be back at the concerts she has on her schedule.
  15. Hope you get back home soon, Lon! I'm nursing a bad cold and staying at home today. And listening to those Lee Wileys! This is the best medicine for me right now!
  16. No, I did not attend the concert in Ramatuelle I was not very far from Marciac - that's in southwestern France - last month and returned to Paris just before the Wayne Shorter concert there. Ramatuelle is a lovely village not very far from St. Tropez on the Riviera. I carefully avoid the Summer crowd on the Riviera. Much better when the crowd is gone and the area remains populated by its usual residents plus the weather is much more to my taste in the Spring or in Autumn.
  17. The Lee Wiley Uptown has sides from 1951 that came out on obscure anthologies (Memories Lightest, Yadeon, ...). Some of the sides that showed up on those antologies also were included in the Lee Wiley 'Manhattan Moods' Jazz Factory 2CD. The Uptown CD is more complete with better sound and much better notes. The Uptown is the one to get! The sessions reunited there come from various dates. Trumpet players at the sessions were people like Billy Butterfield, Muggsy Spanier, Henry Allen, Buck Clayton!
  18. Flurin, I have been to recent Shorter albums and found them a bit lacking in directions. What got to me from the Ramatuelle concert was the passion to play that I had not heard in Shorter for so long. I may have missed concerts where he showed that side recently. I'll be more than happy to reevaluate my opinions on him.
  19. The name will be familiar to fans of Bill Evans. Zindars was a long-time friend of the pianist and composed some of the most beautiful pieces associated with Evans. From the San Francisco Chronicle today
  20. That Shorter concert was just incredible. I was floored! I had not been that impressed by Wayne Shorter in years! Hope that it will be broadcast in full soon! Heard that a number of concertgoers left the Shorter performance at Marciac in the middle of the concert. This was not the case at Ramatuelle. Obviously a hipper crowd!
  21. That 'A Touch of the Blues' was reissued by German RCA/Ariola (with the original cover) when vinyls were still ruling! Not really Lee's best but I'm glad I can enjoy it! I'm pretty sure it sounds better than the FS CD!
  22. $112 was the Mosaic list prize when the box was available. Not interested in this sale and I refuse to buy from people selling these items when they miss the outside box or any worthy document.
  23. Please no shooting/shouting... I have those Definitive boxes! The sets had quite a number of items I could not find anywhere else, even though I already had several of the original vinyl releases. Did not want to wait until Columbia or RCA released their sides and glad I didn't because if I had not bought those Definitive, I'ld still be waiting! Love Lee
