A bit late but a very hearty Joyeux Anniversaire

Thought the man was indestructible! From The New York Times today: Very sad to hear of his passing away. He brought so much joy to this world. Casey was such an essential part of the Fats Waller ensemble sound... His 70s recordings for the French Black and Blue label showed he still had the fire!

Correct! I'ld rather read Kerouac than listen to him... The only Kerouac vinyl I have is the Hanover LP 'Blues and Haikus' where Al Cohn and Zoot Sims take part in the proceedings.

Happy Birth + one Day -
Norman Howard is my dad and I can forward messages to him. He still resides in Cleveland. contact info can be forwarded to email ngold@bww.com ← Welcome to this Board, normagold1! Glad to hear that your dad is still around. Berendes generously provided me with a copy of the cassette with Howard's only date as a leader. The music recorded that day is a hell of a date! One of those freejazz masterpieces. Anybody interested in hearing this smashing music should get in touch with Berendes for a copy of the music. Norman Howard shows on the date he was an incredible trumpet player and one of the best freejazz improviser! Hope he is still making music!

While driving through southern France, detoured to Andorra to purchase Havana cigars (best prices anywhere on those in this tax haven country) and paid a quick visit to several record shops. Very few Definitive CDs in sight and nothing interesting among those available. However got several Tete Montoliu albums. These included: - Liure Jazz (Helix) - Per Sempre, Tete (DiscMedi Blau) - Recordando A Line (DiscMedi Blau) - Free Boleros (with Mayte Martin) (K)

Happy Birthday, Bill And many more to come!

Are you also collecting the DETS CD reissues on Storyville? What leads me to... How much duplication do you estimate in your EKE collection? Questions, questions... ← Away from home now so can't check exactly but I would say roughly 20 percent! That includes a number of Columbia vinyls that I have also on the Sony CD reissues with the added tracks. As for the RCA material, I bought the Bicentennial box and still have most of the same material from the time it came out on those French RCA vinyls (some 25 LPs of them). The DETS Storyville, I have about half of the series. They all include additional material that was not in the vinyl albums. No problem listening to the same EKE material over and over again!
