  7. Flares and bottles were thrown on the field by the hoodlums. One flare hit AC Milan goalkeeper Dida. Dida was treated on the field while more flares and bottles were hurled... These appear whenever Lazio play a game! Many soccer matches (and this occurs in other countries than Italy) are being used by extreme-right supporters to gather in order to shout and display their fascists ideas..
  8. Not only ridiculous, but a disgrace! Proves once more that the UEFA has no guts. Inter Milan should have been banned for the rest of the competition this year and kept out of it next year!
  9. One more: Braxton/Montoliu 'What's New In the Tradition' SCCD 37003/4 c. 1991
  10. Michael Jackson may have to sell the publishing rights (at least half ot it) to the Beatles catalog he bought in 1985 to pay off his mounting debts. He is denying the report for the time being. From AFP:
  11. I studied english in high school. My parents were wise enough to get me to Summer studies in England in my teenage. The idea was to learn english. Spent most of the time chasing girls, watching movies (no subtitles) and exploring record stores. Did me a lot of good, on all points. Also started reading american and english books (Mailer, Salinger, Perelman, Nabokov, etc...). Then The New York Times had the excellent idea of launching a same-day edition in Europe (eight pages each if I remember well). Also I subscribed to The New Yorker. All this was in the late fifties. This got me the journalist bug. I must have been passing as a poseur when I was in the French Army helping to lose the war in Algeria and getting weekly shipments from home with the latest issues of the New Yorker and the NY Herald Tribune. I was ready to join an American news agency soon after I came back to civilian life. English was soon a second language... well, almost!
  12. A dissenting opinion by a French court this week. From BBC News:
  13. Enjoying the vinyl double LP issue of the Moutin Reunion Quartet: http://www.moutin.com/NewCD.html The vinyl issue has not been widely advertised but it's available and comes out very nicely. Great to see the vinyl release that came out at the same time as the CD issue. Really nice quartet with Rick Margitza on sax. The Moutin brothers often play with Martial Solal. Bassist Francois Moutin was on Solal's BN album 'NY1'.

  15. Sorry I missed it. Where is it? Big Al, I meant all the reissues you listed in your original post for this thread!
  16. Must respectfully dissent on this. OTHER AFTERNOONS is a great record, imo. Totally agreee! One of the major scandal in jazz recordings is the lack of attention that Jimmy Lyons got from the US labels, big or small. Not a single one bothered to give him a leader's date while he was still around! And the new issues still come from outside the USA!
  17. The full lists is already out here. No extra added tracks
  18. April 15: 1940 - Louis Armstrong and his Orchestra record session for Decca (Lazy River, Struttin' With Some Barbecue) 1953 - Buddy de Franco Quartet (Kenny Drew, Milt Hinton, Art Blakey) record session for Mercury 1954 - Anita O'Day (with Arnold Ross, Barney Kessel...) record session for Norgran 1959 - Cecil Taylor (with Ted Curson, Bill Barron...) record session for UA (Love For Sale) 1959 - Andy Bey and the Bey Sisters (with Kenny Dorham and Barney Wilen) record session for Fontana
  19. THAT one is a VERY RARE item! Already over $1,500 with five more days to go! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWA:IT
  20. Another Revelation album Anthony Ortega's New Dance was also reissued on Hat Art!
  21. Elvin Jones 'Midnight Walk' (Atlantic) with Thad Jones, Hank Mobley, Dollar Brand... next: Sonny Murray (Shandar) with Ambrose Jackson, Kenneth Terroade...
  22. They're busy with the recording sessions of the next album! They have their priorities! Upgrade will probably come later! Anyway, the Board is working fine as of now
  23. Dump my collection. Not yet. Just reorganized it! Saw that eBay auction. Very impressive. Some of the items I would have loved to get several years ago. Not in a buying phase by now. Just enjoying listening to what I have amassed!
  24. 25. The Lord discography lists the session as having been recorded at Englewood Cliffs. The original Fontana vinyl does not mention either the recording data or a Van Gelder connection.
