Those are not hints, they are passive/aggressive taunts.

Definitely shocked that the Cubs came to Baltimore and swept them, including back to back shut outs. With the Yanks finishing the first half in Baltimore, it works well for the Sox in that one team in front of them has to lose but I should be more worried about the Royals coming in to the Fens. They have three strong starters lined up including a lefty and lefties are kryptonite to this team's offense most of the time. Fingers crossed that they keep it going for three more. 18-7 since June 12 and the opposite of the Yanks, having done no worse than splits in series since early June.

They are in a restaurant and he says this? I am still not getting your retooling.
-
Your setup makes no sense if she replies to the suggestion of 69 by naming a menu dish, if she is the frustrated one. She knows what 69 is then. You need both to be inexperienced which is why I rewrote it that way.

I wasn't sure the dry cleaner twist made sense the same way that "69" or "#69" does in context of someone who works at a Chinese restaurant.
-
I would tell it this way: Two life long friends emigrated from China to the US, and one started a dry cleaning business and the other opened a Chinese restaurant. They had traditional values and so when the time came, the two men decided that the daughter of the restauranteur would marry the son of the dry cleaner. On their wedding night there was a bit of fumbling hesitancy, and the daughter, having been told by her mother that a good Chinese wife would do anything in bed for her husband so she told him, "honey, I love you and will do anything you want to do ... what is it you want?" He said sheepishly "I want ... 69?" Now she looks sheepish and says "... you want beef with brocolli?" Alternate punch line (I think its funny but will understand if you say it doesn't really work): Switch the genders and she says "i want ... 69" and he looks confused and says: "You want Fluff/Fold/Press Same Day?"

Not bad GA but when I use it I gotta make some alterations to the set up.

And here is your update: The innocent CD envelope made it to Ybor City yesterday, which is supposed to be last stop before my Post Office in Plant City and my mailbox. So where is it this morning? A completely wrong post office which is getting ready to put it on some truck for a delivery to god knows where. Or maybe a return to Ybor City and a do-over. I said it 9 years ago it deserves repeating yet again: THE USPS SUCKS.

The second sentence was Kevin's comment on the news. Not from his wife though that blog I linked to took it as such.

I think I had to buy a copy of that LP to get an orphaned Percy France track for the project that ultimately resulted in the website. 👍

In the context of coming from his wife, its an odd statement about how he was a good guy to chat with between sets.

Almost the entire post was used for the announcement on this page: https://londonjazznews.com/2024/07/09/rip-jim-rotondi-1962-2024/ its still up the same way even after I commented, and they published, to point out that the second paragraph was a comment on the announcement by Rotondi's wife.

My dusty groove experience vis a vis the USPS is somewhere in between that of Brad and Ken. Probably about half the time it sits in Chicago and the other half, reasonably quick delivery.

My understanding for a long time is that Media Mail surely does not have any dedicated plane. Media Mail boxes get processed last. If they run out of time in the sorting/passing along process it sits until the next time. There ain't no plane flying media mail.
-
Stunning and very sad news.

Has anyone else come to the realization that for a lot of umps, if a pitch goes across the strike zone but registers outside the box, they are calling a strike because of the seeming interception with the zone? Whereas the pitch that starts slightly outside or inside and stays there, doesn't get the benefit? This isn't to say that the so-called front-door or back-door pitch doesn't get generous calls sometimes, but that there's a particular affinity for the pitch I described above.

So last week I placed two orders on discogs, different sellers but both in CA and both shipped nearly simultaneously and both packages went to the same distribution center also within hours of each other. Which one do you think made it to my local PO first? The LP box or the CD envelope? Lately media mail CDs have come quick but .... as far as I can tell the CD envelope is taking the scenic route across the country but later today I will receive the two LPs.

Indeed! (green smilie here - oh hell make it 3 of them) I don't know what was less likely - Kutter Crawford pitching so effectively and efficiently or Devers second homer to right center on a pitch at least three inches off the plate away. Shades of Vladi Guerrero. And I think the Yanks have a new Big Papi - amazing that he ties Ortiz for homers at Yankee Stadium and before the age of 28. As far as the trade deadline, I predict the Yankees get Bellinger from the Cubs. Excellent defense in center and 1B (you know, just in case Rice isn't in it for a minute). I'd like to see the Sox pick up a left handed starter but if the Cubs are willing I'd be very happy with Nico Hoerner in a trade. Regardless, they look to get Casas and Liam Hendricks (lights out reliever from 2019-2022 before injuries/surgery) back right around August 1, so that is the proverbial "impact players without giving anyone up".

Cool!
-
Not to step on @tkeith's toes but I note nobody has September covered yet. Rather than wait until August I thought it might be a good idea to see if someone can step forward or alternatively, to volunteer to organize another "contribute a track" BFT.

@kh1958 Thanks for this.
