  1. Nothing helps my warble but thanks for the tip!
  2. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts. Unfortunately its not realistic to pay a management company to handle the situation. If we do have to get rid of her and don't decide to get the property up as a short-sale we would definitely hire an agent to find a new tenant and be sure of their reliability. At this point we are trying to be patient and believe that she is indeed getting the withdrawal from her retirement account and will pay May and June very shortly. It's not like she can continue to report to Sue as her immediate supervisor and keep living rent free in our house. Something will give, and very soon.
  3. I think it looks bigger than it really is, but I only have the soft-cover case and this fits easily into the big pocket. As for the use of the capo I am confused. I am a far less experienced/skilled guitarist but do you apply the capo and then play the same chords as written? I thought you have to change chords accordingly. To me the advantage is changing the chords to make transitions easier. A lot of pop/country tunes written in the key of E become easier as C#m becomes Bm, B becomes A. Pretty much all the chords are around frets 1 and 2 if you use a capo on the second fret. And if you want to play Bob Seger's Night Moves, capo I is an absolute necessity to sound like the record.
  4. Thanks. I'll look for that design too when I go to Guitar Center this weekend. I can already see though that one appeal of the model I have is that it's a one-handed operation, grab the handle to release the pressure from the spring and move it or remove it. The spring also allows you to attach it to the top of the neck when not in use. This one looks like a two-handed operation, hold it in place at the fret, turn the screw to tighten so it holds.
  5. Well I don't know if there's confusion or not but here's an image. My wife actually bought it for me and actually looking at it, it looks like I had a $30 model anyway. Guess I should just buy a new one this weekend. Thanks.
  6. That's the kind I have and its not engaging the strings the same way it did. So I am wondering whether the same design at a higher price point is the smarter move or just buy a similar one and assume it will last another two or three years. The price isn't that different anyway ...
  7. Accoustic.
  8. Question for the experts: My capo seems to wearing out after a few years use. I get too much buzz especially at frets 1 and 2 and adjusting the spring doesn't help. I assume this is normal ... I see several at Amazon for $10 or less and others $20 or $30. Are the higher priced ones significantly better or longer lasting?
  9. Just an update for everybody, all but two sets of requests were shipped on Saturday and since the price difference was so small I went with First Class shipping for all so everybody should get there requests shortly. And, I keep finding more private recordings that never made it into the CD player so expect a new posting possibly the first weekend in June, with another likely to follow that. And maybe even another after that.
  10. How about Big Papi, on a pace for over 40 homers and 130 RBIs in his final season. He could obliterate the record for homers in a season past the age of 40. I was watching yesterday when he came up needing a triple for the cycle and hit it out to the triangle, a triple almost certainly and it went into the bullpen on a bad deflection off the wall. What I didn't hear anyone mention is if anyone in MLB history has hit for the cycle past the age of 40. Anyone know? I just scored tickets to the last Saturday night game in Tampa in September. Just to the right of the Red Sox dugout and slightly back. Didn't tell Sue where or what I spent but its going to be fun to lead her to the seats and keep walking closer and closer to the field.
  11. You've nailed it Jim. She doesn't seem to realize that telling us stories that make me think each day "the check is in the box" and then it's not, making me more and more infuriated - she's destroyed her credibility which makes her tale of woe harder to buy despite Chuck giving some credence based on what his daughter went thru. I don't know if Sue will have that hear to heart but either she's going to have to do that or we're just going to put the thing on the market as short sale and get it gone. And here's the ironic thing - this woman first asked for my account details to just deposit rent into my account. I said no, mail a check. Think I'm going to give a liar my account details now?
  12. To qualify for the mortgage on the new house we had to show the existing mortgage on our townhouse covered by a tenant-occupant. We found a tenant who actually works for Susan's boss and reports to Susan and thought this was a perfect solution - we wouldn't have to worry about an unknown person living in our house. We knew that the rent was going to be a stretch for her but she clearly wanted to improve her living arrangements and happily signed the lease. Now, getting her rental check has been a nightmare. First one was due in April and showed up middle of the month. She lied about the status of the check because on one day she said "Oh it should have been there today" and the very next day it showed up, overnight delivery, postmarked on the day it was "supposed" to have already arrived. So now we're three weeks into May and the stories continue. She said her purse was stolen with her checkbook and she was working with the bank so she could get us paid. Then she tells us again the check should have arrived and she'll ask her daughter to make sure she mailed it. Now we get to the crux of the matter: her latest claim is that her bank has frozen her accounts after the theft of her purse/checkbook and she is forced to make a "hardship" withdrawal from her retirement account in order to get us our May rent. Why she told us that a check had been mailed is a mystery, other than the conclusion that she's a congenital liar. But I find her claim about the bank very difficult to believe. Would a bank freeze someone's account in the event of a theft of debit card and checkbook? Or would they close that account and move the money and issue new checks and debit card? This woman has no credibility left because of her prior lies, but I am wondering if anyone sees anything remotely plausible in her tale of woe. We are really caught between a rock and a hard place because of recent expenses in the new house and not having money in hand for the mortgage on the old house. We've demanded that her 'hardship' withdrawal be sufficient to pay us June rent at the same time because I've made it clear to my wife that if she doesn't get current, and stay current, I want her out of our house. Your thoughts are welcome.
  13. Show me the Horace Silver then. The only commercially available Paris recording was issued on Pablo and is from 1962. This is 1959. I've many live Silver recordings from his European tours but never seen a 1959 Paris recording on the trading networks.
  14. That Horace Silver: Can I download from Amazon.fr? I can't seem to select USA as my location. I need this recording!!
  15. Thanks Ubu, I am curious about the Ray Charles release.
  16. Tried searching by "paris" in the title and didn't find anything so here goes ... Discovered at The Bastards a new "Live in Paris" series on the Fremeaux & Associes label when I snagged the Les McCann Trio entry. So far there's an Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, JATP, Nat Cole & The Quincy Jones Big Band, and my probable next target, American Folk Blues 1962. Seems very recent so I am hopeful that there are more to come. Anyone familiar with these? As always thanks in advance.
  17. He may confirm but I could swear Chuck once told me that the 45s were almost always edits of the LP tracks. I had been curious about Three Sounds 45s possibly being different.
  18. Well credit where it is due. Ordered from The Bastards over the weekend, shipped Priority Mail Monday and out for delivery in Plant City two days later.
  19. And apparently he found out about it by an ill-timed email confirming a flight reservation back to Atlanta when his team was on the road thru Thursday. <quote> An hour or so after the Braves’ 8-5 series-opening loss to the Pirates, a person familiar with the situation said Gonzalez received an email notifying him of his scheduled flight to Atlanta on Tuesday afternoon. That was a bad sign, since the four-game series in Pittsburgh runs through Thursday. </quote> http://www.myajc.com/news/sports/baseball/gonzalez-firing-took-an-awkward-turn-late-monday/nrPMM/?icmp=ajc_internallink_referralbox_free-to-premium-referral
  20. Your Tomjanovich comparison is highly questionable as he was cold-cocked out of nowhere and Bautista was standing in front of him, jawing after an atrociously dangerous slide (speaking of having careers ended). Bautista deserved the pop in the face due to the way he came into the bag. Again, does anyone hit a batter intentionally late in a one run game? Highly doubtful. Not the bat flip police (how could I be while enjoying Ortiz' final tour thru the league?) but that doesn't mean I can't have a visceral dislike of the guy who played dirty and got popped in the face for it.
  21. Bautista getting clocked just instantly became a top-five highlight of the season. And the look on his face was exactly the same as a professional prizefighter looks when he's momentarily stunned and needs to move away and get his head clear. I didn't see the HBP but who throws at someone in a one-run game in the 8th inning? Bautista's always been a d-bag and that slide - if the fielder's leg isn't coming up and over, he's got torn ligaments and/or broken bones and is out for the year.
  22. up one more time, hoping to get the remainder cleared out. Leaves me wondering why "free" isn't quite as popular this time as last.
