  1. Well it's certainly interesting since the label actually makes the guy who is not KD out as the headliner, and not not not Thad Jones. On a separate question is everyone hearing three different trumpeters? Cause I only hear two on the theme and the label, which for all I truly know could have their heads up their asses, only have two trumpet soloists.
  2. Not Flanagan.
  3. Back in the 1990s my brother-in-law bought me a Minolta Vectis 25 camera. Wanted to start using it again, what with the new house, new horse, and new puppy (on the way) but much to my chagrin the Fuji film I bought at Walgreens won't fit!(?) The user's guide is long gone but I notice online this is referred to as an APS camera, does that reference a specific size of film that will fit? Or did standard film become not so standard in the many years since I actually used this? I honestly didn't think I needed to look for anything specific other than the film speed. As always, thanks in advance!
  4. Then the info on the recording is completely wrong. Two trumpeters, one is KD and the other is not Thad.
  5. Well done. Was that a guess or do you know what recording it comes from?
  6. Well done. Was this a bit of sleuthing or did Jim's ID send you to your own stacks?
  7. Some interesting first thoughts but none of them hits it on the head.
  8. First positive ID and its of one of the 'harder' items, to my mind. Not for the tune or that it's Blakey but I didn't even know this album existed before I stumbled across it on my 50th b-day vinyl safari in the Naples area last September. Well done, sir!
  9. No, no and no.
  10. Recording location is not provided however I suspect you may be right - even if I never noticed any bloke saying "Yeah mate!"
  11. And I didn't even think of the title as a summing up of the programming philosophy.
  12. That's an interesting guess but it is not Budd Johnson.
  13. Not Byas.
  14. Not Junior.
  15. Well it is the Messengers but I would say definitely that the trumpeter pre-dates Hubbard (though we can't say that Hubbard didn't influence established trumpeters after his appearance). This seems like a pretty rare recording we'll see if someone knows it or maybe one of the truly advanced ears like Jim S. or Thom make an ID.
  16. Correct on KD, correct that other trumpet is not Thad, but not that Trumpet Summit recording. Recorded closer to the bop era.
  17. 10 tracks, just under 80 minutes, and hoping that a few more participate than actually 'signed up'. http://thomkeith.net/index.php/blindfold-tests/ BFT 145 is at the top of the list on the player. Thanks once again to TK for his willingness to play 'musical host'.
  18. Oh boy now I gotta see if this is a Silver concert that has made the collector's rounds or is truly "new" in which case it goes very close to the top of the immediate wants list.
  19. Chrissie Evert Christie Canyon Morganna The Kissing Bandit
  20. Is that Lili Marlene, 80s bottle blonde "adult" performer? anyway .... Sheriff Bart Mongo Mongo Santamaria
  21. You had me wondering about Fred Jackson on alto so I looked and saw a nice copy on eBay for $10 but it's also available as a CD from Amazon, or as a download so I've filed it away for a future (OK, early April) order.
  22. MG: http://acerecords.co.uk/go-go-power-the-complete-chess-singles-1961-66
  23. Well MG I guess there's a chance, as I picked one or two specifically for you. Thanks for joining the fun.
  24. This one runs the gamut, at least as much of a gamut as I ever go. Meaning, bop, hard bop, and real and faux Gene Harris. But seriously, it's ten tracks and under 80 minutes so I managed this time to adhere to the general agreement about ideal BFT length to maximize participation. So let me know if you're in and of course if anyone needs a CDR that will be provided but has that ever happened since Thom took on the upload/hosting duties? Thanks in advance, I've got to keep offering these steadily if I am going to keep ahead of HP on the BFT Leader Bored.
  25. How many of the shiny happy CDs on the shelves are a relevation instead of a documentation? I'm always interested in this kind of document and now having finished the worst of the inflated expenses of our move, it's time to place the order ...
