FREE $2 Amazon mp3 credit (expires 4/22/12)

Thanks, I am leaning toward using this for the DEEP "The Outlaws" release that was mentioned a few weeks back in the context of Horace Silver tunes. -
That's not the definition of "vulture win" - that's when a relief pitcher blows a save or hold situation and gets the win when the bats pick him up. If a starter can't hold the lead while he's pitching, what has the reliever vultured from him? A no-decision? Relief pitchers in yesteryear ended up with a boatload of decisions because they pitched longer and had more chances to be the pitcher of record, for good or bad.

Aside from the fact that Dave wants to compare an ERA achieved in 82 innings with an ERA achieved across 300+ innings, I agree with his evaluation of Gagne's Cy Young season.

I moved up my haircut appointment to give me time to go to the two remaining record stores (that I know of) in Broward county. It will be my first "Record Store Day" and in all honesty, I don't intend to spend anything, it just gives me a reason to go to a couple of stores I haven't shopped at in six months in one case and well over a year in the other. If I don't buy anything, I'll be heading to Amazon for a long-delayed order as soon as I get home - and as I look at Radio-Active Records website, I have a feeling their "entertainment" will drive me out of the store faster than planned.

I'd multiply aloc's eye-roll by a thousand but the software won't let me. Nice to see you're consistent in your bitter angry bile, Chris. Whatever the circumstances of his initial takeover of what became American Bandstand, no one can possibly deny that Clark was an extremely smart and successful businessman on top of his exceptional broadcast skills. Must be killing you Chris that no one thought to interview you as a counterpoint to all the "fawning". (Now watch as Chris comes back with some reference to Saddam's WMD. Its as predictable as the bile that erupts when someone he doesn't care for is lionized in death.)

I do 99% of my listening in the car nowadays, 75 - 90 minutes round trip every weekday plus whatever other driving I do. Its been great for digging into the archives and pulling stuff I haven't heard in years, and now that I am near the end of the latest CD case, I ask my O-buddies to chime in on what the next batch ought to be. (One word of explanation - I did my last large-scale CDR trade probably about 5-6 years ago. I've only listened to about 20% of what I received, there's almost an entire spindle of burns that sits, forgotten, among the jewel boxes. It mostly serves to keep the jewel boxes from tipping over (cheap shelving) but I really ought to listen to the discs at some point. The question to you is, should it go in front or wait a little while longer? And yes, I have no I-Pod and I'm darn happy like that, even if when I get on a plane, I look like a technological troglodyte pulling out my Discman and my book of CDs.

Hank's new record- its own thread

Now I know why she was so hobbled when I saw her in January. The way she was moving, I was afraid she'd had a stroke or something and was in rehab, and I was afraid to ask ... Someone should have told her its not possible for her to get any hipper. -

When was she closed? I've been visiting the folks more often the past two years, she's always been there ... -

I decided to toss my money to my old friend Sally of Sally's Records in Westport CT - and when she ordered it, they were already out of stock. So I have a feeling I'll be way behind everybody but I've waited long enough anyway, what's an extra week or whatever it turns out to be? On the other hand, when I do get it I'll also finally hear the Wes Montgomery issue from Resonance, so I'll be up to speed. -
And you wonder why I refuse to concern myself with the American League franchise located in Boston, MA.

Glad to hear your Dad is doing so much better, only wish it were the same for mine. I won't bore you with details but I hope everybody who has an elderly but still functional parent enjoys and appreciates whatever time they have with them.

I didn't know Johnny Coles was in NY by 1953. As excited as I am by the Hank release, I really want to know what else they've acquired. -
RIP. Is it appropriate to post this classic from SNL?

Agree about the Humphrey but I have an Applause copy of Wahoo! that sounds terrific. I seem to recall a Lou Donaldson too that sounded fine. You know they did have access to the masters. IIRC, the contract was screwy or someone at Capitol screwed up and gave them more masters than they were entitled to, and that's how so many Applause reissues came into being. -
