  1. And your new closer fucks the hope away. I am so glad I am in full "ignorance of Red Sox baseball is bliss" mode. When do the Cubs play?
  2. Even though its incomplete if MG and Ubu approve then I am definitely taking the plunge!
  3. Well this is my hope, that Ozzie had a lot of tapes (and who knows what other artists he recorded?) and that Uptown made a deal for the whole kit and caboodle, and we're going to see many amazing releases in the coming years.
  4. YOu got some inside track and know that they also acquired that tape?
  5. Maybe? There ain't no maybe about it ... I'm just hoping that's next on Uptown's hit parade! Unless the tapes aren't in as good shape as the Bennie Green recording ...
  6. Its probably inappropriate to put this here, but does anyone know about this era of Percy's career: Percy Mayfield RCA Years Came right after Tangerine, I guess ... the reviews I see are good but I'd love to hear from people I trust on the board, if they know this release or the original LPs (apparently the set is incomplete).
  7. Publix works for me, and they seem to work for the survey respondents too. I notice too that they didn't get the memo about shopping clockwise or counter-clockwise. There are entrances on the left and right, and I have seen Publixes with produce at the right front, right rear and left rear. Only place I've never seen it is the left front corner.
  8. Bennie was the star soloist hired to front the house band so no surprise that he might lead off most solos. But I figure with 12 songs over 140+ minutes, there's plenty of space for Hank. God I wish I could leave work right now so I can run home to hear these clips.
  9. I figured Walter Davis because he was part of the house band with Hank but Bennie Green on trombone is a real bonus for me. Wait a sec - someone should cross-reference the jazz standards you hate thread to see which one of those are going to ruin this disc for some people.
  10. The details slip my mind but Fathead also missed a date in south Florida not long before he died. I did go in to NYC to catch Ray Brown with Gene Harris at the Blue Note only it turned out to be Benny Green in the piano chair. It wasn't long after that I read that Gene was going on his own and that Benny had officially joined Ray. The concert was great but it was my last chance to see Gene in person.
  11. Thanks Claude. So if Ozzie's widow was the source - or its something Ozzie shopped before he died - I'd say there is a strong hope that the McGhee session will see the light of day soon. That would be f'in awesome.
  12. So Ozzie was sound man at The Pic? Or is this yet another session not related to the one Uptown is releasing? Something that is part of your Mobley discography or something newly discovered?
  13. Buck Hill the tenor-playing former postman? That's something I would have highlighted on the CD cover.
  14. I got if for $7.92 at Amazon. Is it twice as much on the other side of the pond?
  15. How/where did you hear this? Its not out for another 16 days.
  16. Between this promotion and that $10 gift card for $5 deal, I just bought Butch Warren's new release for 92 cents.
  17. It would take weeks to fill them out and there aren't enough Mega-Million slips in existence to do it anyway. On top of that, if one other person also picked the right numbers, you'd end up in the hole by 30 million dollars.* *the above is paraphrasing what I read, I didn't calculate it myself.
  18. Like it or not, the Yankees are the highest-valued franchise in the game and probably the world. The fact that the Dodgers were sold for 5 billion means that the new floor for the Yankees is $5 billion and one. The question is, do the other second-tier teams, the Red Sox and Cubs, go above or below the Dodgers? The answer is probably right along side of them. And the Yankees are above everybody.
  19. If I were you I'd avoid impositions of reality too.
  20. In chrome, click on the wrench icon. Choose under the hood & content settings. Java settings are in the middle of the screen.
  21. Whenever I hit the 20 article limit, I turn java off on my browser and I have the same access as before. I'll just be turning java off earlier every month.
  22. It goes on forever? No, that would be
  23. Womack, not Watson. Here's wishing long lives to both of them.
  24. The BFT sub-forum says "Liar, liar, pants on fire!"
  25. Just wanted to say that. He was 87 years young in this clip: Wish I could find "My Answer" on youtube, tremendous song.
