Buddy Rich had nothing on Illinois Jacquet (?)
Dan Gould replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous Music
The dude Jacquet buried? -
From the description: Sometime in the early-mid 1990s, at his rehearsal studio, in his home in St. Albans, Queens, NYC, Tenor Saxophone Jazz Legend Illinois Jacquet had decided that one of his trumpet players, Randy Eckert, had played a wrong note in one of the parts the band was rehearsing. Eckert denied it was him and the rest is urban legend. Here, in its entirety is the legendary cassette tape that made the rounds throughout the world of jazz musicians, known as "Jacquet Freaks Out". Here is the evidence that "The Beast" had indeed earned his nickname; a nickname, by the way, no-one was ever allowed to call him to his face. This is not intended to take away from the music nor his legendary status as a musician, but does serve to show how rough the Jazz Business could be at times, back in the day. Any "employer" who treated his employees like this today would no doubt be "cancelled".

8 Things You Didn't Know About Your Penis

Well I did go deep into the article and I sent it to my wife who told me that she thought it was longer than it really was. In all seriousness I did find the pros for circumcision to be a little surprising as last time I thought about it or read about it, it seemed there was a big push for not taking a little off the tip. But clearly there are benefits. -

Oh this has got to bring the ladies in to this hang. -
Ah perhaps Jim's effort to demonstrate how there are gems in his post-60s work.

Was Thom sworn to secrecy? Cuz he seems to know Track 3 very well but doesn't actually say.

No idea on Snell. Haven't really followed Boston rumors much at all. yes it was Ed Whitson (for some reason I was thinking Rick Rhoden) ... and as for Hicks, I honestly thought he brought little to the table and was shocked when they signed him to any extension/decent money. Don't mind him performing elsewhere though. -

I am not convinced any of these guys are true bona fide stars worth the money that will be thrown at them (I mean the FAs not the CYs). Gray struck me as someone unsuited for a big market environment. Wish I could recall the Yankee pitcher with that problem back in the 80s. Montgomery ... I'd prefer his teammate myself but I've said before the Sox shouldn't have let Eovaldi go. Stroman might potentially be the best option, I kind of see him as a Pedro-esque 'will to win' kind of guy but the injuries this past season give me some pause, not to mention the mileage on his arm. -
MLB 2023: how ya like it now?

No idea I just hope that the new regime in charge spends and does it wisely. And regarding Stanton, about the only thing worse Cash might have added is "we think it could be 'roid related. We're looking into that." <green smilie emoji I miss every day here> -
Fixed it for you. When I see claims of Fair Use on sites like youtube, they usually appeal to Fair use permits a party to use a copyrighted work without the copyright owner's permission for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research. What praytell is the criticism, comment or research created in the wholesale copying of liner notes, booklets and album covers/tray cards?

Sonny Stitt "Boppin`At Baltimore" (Jazz Detective)
Dan Gould replied to soulpope's topic in New Releases
And after a little bit of thought its obviously the newish and greatly expanded Lee Morgan set from the Lighthouse which carries Zev and David Weiss credits for "produced for release". -

My immediate assumption was that it is referencing Just Coolin' by what the writer thinks is the best known musician in the group. -

GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY in about three hours of deliberation. So pleased, as I feared that the defendant held up on cross examination rather well or that the prosecutors didn't question him as aggressively as they needed to. Who is next? The mother who surely got this plan in motion as she is a controlling, demanding mother to all known testimony. Her and her hubby? All three and put the ex-wife on trial at the same time? The case is harder as you go further afield from the direct conspirators (and I don't see Charlie flipping on his parents or his sister). Maybe Wendi spends the rest of her life trying to pretend that her kids have no father and her own brother is in jail all because she hated her ex and hated living in Tallahassee. The more I think of it the more I thnk Wendi gets arrested next. She said a lot of stupid shit to the cops and she had to drive to the crime scene to confirm it really happened as scheduled, then did nothing to make sure the kids or her ex were OK even though the crime scene tape and his house were clearly visible from where she had to turn around.

I am aghast at this news: https://www.mlb.com/news/craig-counsell-new-cubs-manager Will it work like Maddon's hiring did? Regardless, David Ross deserved a lot better from his ex-employers. -

Stroman opting out from the Cubs and E-Rod opting out from the Tigers. I really thought Stroman wanted to stay in Chicago but I guess the almighty dollar won out. As for E-Rod I thought the Red Sox shouldn't have let him go via free agency (and what the hell would anyone have against LA as a trade destination? I could not believe that he vetoed a chance to play for them at the deadline.) -
I guess I will get it started. Today's news: Justin Turner declined his option with the Red Sox which I find disappointing as until recently I thought the option was mutual and the team could bring him back either way. With new faces in charge perhaps they will hang around in the bidding for his services a little longer before deciding "that's too rich for our blood". The short-sighted approach is that moving Yoshida to DH solves a logjam in the outfield but reality is that Devers has to move to DH and STAT. His defense eviscerates his less-than-awesome bat. Bellinger a free agent - no surprise there and it will be interesting to see if he suffers any cost for having sucked donkey you-know-whats for three full years before a return to form in his age 28 season.

I've been trying to watch his testimony but it is hard, both for what he says and of course, for having to work at least a little. But he is expecting the jury to believe that the one thing his family wanted - Dead Brother-in-Law - happened spontaneously because his girlfriend's ex did it for them independently and then extorted them for money or they'd kill other family members. It is so ludicrous and we haven't even gotten to the cross-examination. The two state's attorneys have been tremendous in extracting all of the evidence and I have a strong feeling one of them will shred his credibility like the wet paper machier it is.

Don't know about number 3 but you got two names right on the first two tunes as well as there being two trumpets.

Is anyone among us following this case? I have, from the start when I learned how Tallahassee investigators tracked the rental car of the hired killers and especially for the girlfriend's trial and Adelson's arrest. Now, today we have the narcissistic sociopath brother of the victim's wife, taking the stand in his own trial. Absolute must-see-TV as far as I am concerned. His expected testimony is ludicrous and the cross-examination is going to be epic. Personally I think his testimony could spell the difference between taking an hour to convict vs 30 minutes. I hope the entire family is put away, with Wendi Adelson going to trial last, when all of her family will be sitting in orange jumpsuits for the rest of their natural lives. What do y'all think, if you know what I am talking about?

Got it when it came out, a great release. I prefer this era of Cannonball myself.
