  1. Aggie, this reminds me of something I feel compelled to do here in Florida. My wife and I used to watch Bar Rescue and sometime after we arrived in Plant City, there was a bar just to the west of us where a shooting took place. So every time I drive past that location (even now when the building is long gone, replaced by a quick lube company) I say in my best Jon Taffer voice, "Two people were shot to death in your bar ... and you're failing!"
  2. I can only imagine what a "Sludge" band is. I do hope people clicked on the link, I am not a sailor or particularly interested in the subject but did find the article interesting and worth ten minutes. As for Lightfoot parodies, there is only this:

  4. I'm a palate cleanser like liquid drano.
  5. Well I am sure Felser will ask for December but there's no way to artfully combine name and month so ...
  6. That's exciting news!
  7. I never noticed especially slow connections and right now, my browser if flying from page to page.
  8. Doubtful - that tune is on the "Standards I don't need to hear ever again" list.
  9. When it was bases loaded I turned away, was sure he was saving the worst performance of the year for the playoffs. I did come back to the broadcast for the last two outs, after switching channel with my eyes covered and slowly realizing that he had gotten the first out and it was still 3-1.
  10. Obvious key for Game 2 is going to be the Sox making Rodon work and work to get him out of the game and get into the Yankee bullpen. For the Sox and Cubbies sake, I do like the odds in 3 game post-season playoffs for the game 1 winner to advance. No wonder Cora rode Crochet and Chapman so hard.
  11. Sorry Met fans but $350 million to one player just doesn't buy what it used to .... <green smilie here> (and its all the better that Francona is the manager of the team that benefits from the Mets largesse. In all seriousness, the Sox have their work cut out for them, and so do the Cubs but its nice to be able to watch October baseball with an interest deeper than "Die Yankees, Die". And @Patrick - what they accomplished this season is quite remarkable, whatever happens. They didn't just beat September deficit - they obliterated it. I hope the magic continues.
  12. Hearing about this book with NYC Jazzmen, I am curious if Percy France could be anywhere in there. Here's a snip from the Hot Doggett LP, it's the earliest photo I have of him - everything else from the 70s-80s when he was 50+
  13. Do you understand why it is that Jomboy seems to think the box on the broadcast is not the box that would be used for challenges? Is the official challenge going to be different from the result you see with the naked eye watching TV? It's very confusing to me and doesn't make much sense. (And it has to be said that any ump missing 25 calls - 2 challenges a game per team won't fix that.)
  14. I am sold so I just grabbed the lowest cost copy on amazon of the Sandke. Last year and into this year I have been finding and greatly enjoying those Moss CDs on the label. Heartily recommended.
  15. All seems logical now but how is a copy leaking to a European seller and before any peep from Mosaic? I didn't even think they went to production until after a pre-sale period.
  16. So that was earlier this year ... did Mosaic issue a set and not make an announcement? Or is this some sort of early reviewer copy, before they even hint at a release schedule?

  18. Too weird! and of course that Mosaic release number is fake ... I am online friends with Michael Steinman who supposedly wrote the booklet. I should reach out to him.

  20. The Sox have achieved a sparkling winning percentage of 0.333 since Roman Anthony went down. Maintain that extraordinary achievement and its four more wins, or 86 total. Now you may say 6 against the A;s and Rays but then its last series against the Jays and Tigers ... 4 wins may be pushing it and it will hardly matter. 86 won't get anyone into October. No wonder Cora is saying that nothing is assured and they have to start winning games.

  22. I hope attendance was strong, Ken.
  23. Been planning this one for a while ... I put together snips of Percy from his appearance on WKCR's Jazz Alternatives as Musician Host. And today September 11, happens to be the anniversary of the day he bought his first tenor saxophone, with a little help from his Pop. This is chaptered so you can hover your mouse to see the topics covered. I hope people enjoy this, there are other clips I didn't use and some I couldn't find, including Percy talking about how different saxophone models are like a woman. So there might be a Part 2 coming up.
  24. Addition by subtraction! Darren May placed on IL ... hopefully never seen in a Red Sox uni ever again! Whatever happens with the two rookies I'd rather have them gain experience and do what they can than watch Mr. 100 Pitches to get thru 3 1/3 innings.
