  1. It's really one of the best. I missed him at his height and am only really exploring him properly now.
  2. Marty Ehrlich - The Traveller's Tale
  3. I really heard him this morning. I found myself enthusiastically telling the 4 year old and 6 year about Ornette's Atlantic Quartet. Because this was a record that I had from really very early on in my listening career, it is strangely one which I understand less than more recent acquisitions. I don't think I had realised Frank Lowe was on it until today. Perhaps as a younger listener I assumed it was Cherry doing those squealing effects.
  4. Kaoru Abe – Solo Live At Gaya Vol. 9
  5. Don Cherry - Brown Rice
  6. Not 100% sure. I am a recommendation hound and tend to pick up these things. I like Novotny and I do look out for anything with his name on it.

  8. Very much a Spotify pressing. It is fantastic. I can only imagine how it must have been to be the first hip hop DJ to get his/her hands on it. Like finding the ark of the covenant.
  9. Three Motions – Pannonian Flower Paul Fields, Walter M Malli and Fritz Novotny
  10. Karl Berger / Masahiko Satoh / Adelhard Roidinger / Allen Blairman – With Silence I love a piano / vibes front line.
  11. Enoch Light And The Light Brigade – I Want To Be Happy Cha Cha's I am currently streaming this one on YT, more out of morbid curiosity than anything (although it is certainly not a bad record, by Command's standards. It is fun). The comments are really interesting. For some reason, in contrast to 90% of 50s/60s Latin records, it has lots of comments. Hundreds of people from around the world reminiscing about what a wonderful record it was. There are people from Hong Hong, the Philippines and Central Africa, but most of all there are people from Latin America?! So many comments in Spanish about how this was the poster's favourite record growing up. It is the last thing I would have expected from such an inauthentic piece of fluff. Edit: It is not actually on Command, it turns out. It is on Grand Award.
  12. Not necessarily one to rush to buy but not bad.
  13. The Bob Thiele Collective Featuring David Murray, John Hicks, Cecil McBee, Andrew Cyrille – Sunrise Sunset
  14. Don Ralke – The Savage And The Sensuous Bongos
  15. That's a great t shirt. Sadly sold out everywhere. I'd have bought that if I'd seen it.
  16. Paul Desmond - Bossa Antigua
  17. Paul Winter – Common Ground Bud Shank & Clare Fischer – Bossa Nova Jazz Samba
  18. Patti Bown – Patti Bown Plays Big Piano! Just finished Elisabeth Waldo and Her Concert Orchestra – Rites Of The Pagan: Mystic Realm of the Ancient Americas
  19. Altschul is fantastic, but it felt a little underwritten, and Jaume got a bit predictable at times (although he sits out for a lot of it).
  20. Andre Jaume - Giacobazzi
  21. Charles Tyler – Sixty Minute Man
  22. Matthew Shipp Quartet – Critical Mass
  23. Henry Mancini - A Touch of Evil Helluva a choice.
  24. That's a great one. I recommend this one too. Recently re released, and streamable
  25. Roscoe Mitchell Trio - Angel City
