  1. When I was a freshman in college in 1969, I sent away for and received the Prestige catalogue, which was nothing more than a few 8.5 x 11 pieces of paper with artist, title and price. It is my recollection that all of the New Jazz albums were one dollar less than the Prestige albums. That was one of the reasons I ordered a couple of New Jazz albums! (Trumpet Giants with Dizzy, Fats and Miles; and Ezz-thetic with Miles and Lee, along with some Teddy Charles and Billy Bauer)
  2. Gene Vincent?
  3. Correct, Shawn! Very good.
  4. Happy Birthday Michael!
  5. This one's too hard. I doubt you'll get her.
  6. As the "mod" of this thread, I'd like to congratulate everyone who has kept it going much longer than I thought it would go. So in the spirit of celebration, and in honor of St. Valentine's Day, I suggest that between now and February 14, should a suggested theme be too hard it may be substituted with five albums which contain the words PLAYS FOR LOVERS in the title!!!
  7. At that price, I highly recommend the Sergio Mendes box. Favorite Things is weak, and I haven't heard Great Arrival, but Beat of Brazil, El Matador and Swinger are great.
  8. LL Bean has in the past year started using in their catalogue a young thing whom I think is gorgeous. You can see her here with the "Get Set for Spring with Classic Women's Styles" photo. http://www.llbean.com/
  9. The Als have released Anwar Stewart and Danny Desriveaux. http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=387259 ***** Indianapolis has struck again, this time signing Justin Hickman. http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=387264 ***** Alan Thicke once tried to line up a group to buy the Ticats, and had Martin Short and OJ Simpson on board. It all ended when Simpson got arrested. http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=387159 ***** Ricky Williams has retired from the NFL. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/ricky-williams-retiring-from-nfl/article2329677/
  10. Happy Birthday 2012 mr jazz!
  11. I believe I read years ago that it was a car accident. Funny that there are a few different stories.
  12. For those of you who are history buffs and are curious about origins, I read on the internet a few years back that the middle finger gesture originated at the Battle of Agincourt. But here is an article from the BBC that says that it is 2,400 years old. http://www.bbc.co.uk...gazine-16916263
  13. Looks like Ursala Undress. I mean Andress. PS - Now that I have looked up Honey Ryder on Wikipedia because the name meant nothing to me, I see that my comment is superfluous. Oh well.
  14. Claiming to have recovered from the broken leg he suffered in the NFL, Rashad Jeanty is returning to the Eskimos. http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=387067
  15. Lea Thompson is correct, bertrand!
  16. Chris, is that a typo? Do you mean that you can't remember?
  17. I watched it on the internet. This was the first time it was legitimately shown on the web, and I wanted to be a part of history.
  18. Happy Birthday 2012 Big Wheel!
  19. I suppose if you can read her scribble you might guess...
  20. Today's ad for me was a link to Amazon for the double-CD of the Dave Brubeck Quartet with Paul Desmond's last concert. I wish they were all that relevant. I clicked on it.
  21. Correct Chuck! I thought she would be a good choice for the Super Bowl.
  22. Here's one.
  23. Correct TD! It's Tea Leoni.
  24. Here's another one.
