Hamilton 44....Edmonton 28 An unusual game. The Elks scored two field goals, and the Ticats responded with two of their own, so the score was 6-6 after one. Edmonton scored two punt singles, and Hamilton scored their own to make the score 8-7 with 2:40 left in the half. Then the Ticats suddenly wake up and score two touchdowns before halftime. They score two more in the third, and one more to start the fourth, to make the score Ticats 41 - Elks 8. Needless to say, the Elks' offense was the mess it was last week, and ever since they fired Chris Jones. For the first time (!) in his career, Mitchell threw five touchdown passes. At that point, there is 9:43 left in the game, and Jackson puts in Ford, who promptly throws three touchdown passes! Patterson has been a pleasant surprise.) Calgary over Ottawa (The Redblacks could win this one at home, but I feel that the Stampeders are a little bit stronger.) Winnipeg over Toronto (If the Argos start Arbuckle at home, I think they could win. I'm down on Dukes, and the Bombers are improving.) Hamilton over Edmonton (The Elks' offense was out of synch last week, now that their OC is down from the booth and on the sidelines. RIP. I respected him for routinely hiring young guys better than him. At the time, some of my favorites did that - Herbie Mann, Miles Davis, Spencer Davis. I guess Paul Revere did that too. I just the other day listened to his Greatest Decca Hits cd, and I'll give it another go.
