  1. Did anyone besides Lon get these already? I'm curious about the sound, etc. The special preorder price is still on so it was not so special after all......
  2. by the way you should use HMV.co.jp Great site in English with all the available versions of everything listed and easy to find.
  3. Christmas Cooking is a latter reissue of Christmas '64 (on LP that is in the 60's). The CD issue was Christmas Cooking until the latest version in the US which is called Christmas '64. The CC CD has 2 bonus tracks from other LP's so not unissued or alternates. If you have all the other JS Verve CD's available you don't need CC but C'64 will do (and that version has the latest remastering from the Sundazed Studios (Bob Irwing et al.) in 24 Bit (I assume, just as all the new LPR's are). I bet the Japanese CC has the older remastering from the 80's from the Verve CD.
  4. 2 additions: Got my Mojo Working also seperate available as Japanese import jewel case (UCCV3029) The Boss also as a Japanese import jewel case cd (UCCV3032)

  6. Forgot to add: this is only for non US residents!!!! US residents can download the album on iTunes so they shouldn't complain.
  7. You and the Night and the Music is missing. This track is listed in the discography but not on the CD card. And needless to say it's not on the cd (the music that is) as well!!! How nice of me to say this so now more people are looking for this cd.
  8. I've been looking for this (Japanese import POCJ) CD for ages already as well. The O'Day Mosaic left off the trio tracks (obviously) but also mixed up and left off one O'day track as well.
  9. Hello all, I'm looking for the Japanese import mini LP edition of this Weather Report classic. The catalog number is SRCS-9141. There might be a later reissue in the SRCS-96XX series but I don't know if these are in the mini LP format as well. Any help would be nice!!!
  10. so I was not so far off with my UCCM-9027 guess!!!!!!!
  11. Who made these graphs? They can be altered by just choosing a different scale. I prefer to listen with my ears and not by seeing a graph, but to each it's own......
  12. ANy idea if this book will be available for purchase? I also have all 4 box sets already.
  13. The new 24 Bit TOCJ is not muddy at all. A bit too bright imo but Hank's tenor has a nice Van Gelder living room ambience on it and sounds very "real". Very low on the bass side (Watkins is hardly audible and the piano is light too). Milt is clear and sounds ok. Indeed not the best sounding BN but surely not muddy as described in all the previous postings. I'll compare it with the JRvG and the TOCJ-1544 is have also.
  14. Hello Oliver, I have the currently available jewel case version of Eternal Rhythm (UCCU-5184) which is produced from the same remastering (24 Bit) as the one you're referring at. I believe it's UCCM-9027. It's about the only one from this series I don't have in mini LP format so it must be very hard to find. Here and Now I don't have and I couldn't find information on the net after a quick scan.
  15. Wow, Lon where did you get that one??? Indeed a nce album. Let's hope Warner (Japan) will reissue her Atlantic LP soon as well.
  16. to answer your questions more directly...... The Duets was indeed a mini LP Japanese CD (OOP now) and the others of your list were not issued in Japan in the mini LP format. (almost) all are available though in the EMI UK twofer format and US CD's. You didn't mention the Christmas album June did and which was reissued last year by Collector's choice which is also a good one imo.
  17. Hello Oliver, welcome aboard! I have the Christy Something Cool mini LP CD and this one is 24 Bit remastered in the US by Ron McMaster. I don't have the Duets mini LP but it's from the same series so I suspect it to be remastered by McMaster as well in 24 Bit for the Japanese market.
  18. Maybe that's why Three Coins isn't on the original album. To avoid it you can buy the Japanese TOCJ-4080 or the new 24 Bit TOCJ-6484 (or the old JRvG TOCJ-9081). The new (low priced) TOCJ-6484 is the best sounding imo (haven't heard the new RvG).
  19. To add something different than "great set" & "must buy"...... I had it and sold it because the playing of the Ellington band is very much below their standard (sloppy themes and missed notes, bad colectives, etc.). They must have been enjoying the riviera (with all the temptations available ie drugs, women, alcohol, etc.) but surely they didn't give their best performance wise. The tracks issued orriginally by Verve (Soul Call if I'm correct) are good but the rest not so imo. There's enough Ellington out there which is much much better.
  20. terrible cd imo.......Blue Note unworthy
  21. Hello all, just a note to let you all know the next 2 reissues from Mighty Quinn are up for pre-order (March release). Roy Ayers: West Coast Vibes & Ray Nance: Body & Soul The pre-order price is $10.98. The Ayers was on my wish list for ages so I'm glad it is seeing the light of day finally!!! http://www.mighty-quinn.net/Home.html
  22. www.jpc.de sells them for €7.99 (excl. shipping)
  23. Good to see you're back! Can you please tell some more about yourself and the company? And I think it's wise to open a new thread in the Re-issues forum.
  24. Since Tzadik is a US label (owned by John Zorn) I wouldn't buy those in Japan.
  25. Oh Son, son son....if you would have only followed the TOCJ-16XX sereis which had the Rajah in it you wouldn't complain about that one for sure
