rest assure: there are no liner notes inside this one. As you can see on the back of the digipack (which is a repro of the original LP) there are none so the inclusion of a paper with no liner notes seemed (even for Universal) a not so good idea!!!

I'm always bugging MC about the as well David!!! I hated the fact he excluded the Big Band tracks from one of the Jazz Crusaders LP's to stay within the "real" Jazz Crusaders mold for the set. Same with all the single cd's with bonus tracks from other LP's but not complete (just because he doesn't like them). But at the end of the day we all should be very thankful for all his efforts getting most of this music released at all.

I believe the sessions with co leaders are excluded (Stuff, Getz, etc.) But these are available elsewhere so no worries!!!

Hello all, anyone heard (or bought or both) the new release titled Jazz Academy by Michael Brecker et al.? Just curious.

Hans is not ill or anything he just took a sabatical from this board (thanks to the you know who's.....) So I guess we all agree Son of can list the Japanese new releases from Hiroshi from now on!!!!

I don't think the words "Verve" and "acknowledged" or for that matter "answered" are compatible......

But Lon that classics disc is almost impossible to get (I'm lucky enough to have it). How many do you think they made of that one? I think 500 or so. If you include all the Japanese issues from the last 15 years almost (if not all) was available on cd. But indeed hard to find and OOP. Essential box imo too!!!

Hello Jim, just wondering how you usually record in Avatar (Powerstation). Many labels (Sony, DIW, Arabesque, etc.) don't list any recording info other than the engineer and the studio/dates. Do you record digitally there or analog (or does this depend on the requests of the producer/musicians). Cheers, Reinier

Dan: are you sure about the Andora pirates statement? I have a legitimate RCA Spain release of the JJ. It's also produced by Jordi Pujol (of Fresh Sound "fame") but these issues have nothing to do with the Pirates you're thinking of.

In terms of money value the Black Lion disc should be more expensive (earlies issue and long oop). In term of music value there's the same of course.

The Ringer isn't part of the Select either and a great date as well, well worth seeking. The Tolliver Big Band question can be answered! The sessions are sceduled to happen the beginning of June. If all goes well I'll be attending the reheasals the end of may in NYC. MC is producing this one (I assume for Blue Note but don't know this for sure). The Paper Man session is great too so it should be released soon as well. I'll ask Charles when I see him during those rehearsals. I believe they are made for Alan Bates/Polydor so MC might know who owns the rights now.

Universal is going to distribute (and manufacture) "some" of this catalog. What they will do is very uncertain so you're partially right the Fantasy catalog is indeed deleted.
