gslade: in fact this is the last one Verve remastered so now all of them are already out in the remastered Master Edition (Digipack) format. All are in the same 20 bit remastering as the complete box set of the Songbooks except this last one which is in 24 Bit, 96 kHz and thus newly remastered.
I have the same problem with 3 of the 9 (I believe) discs of the Dexter Gordon Complete Prestige box (German pressing, not CC'ed). The drive just doesn't read them. I even tried another copy of the set (yes working in a Jazz record store does help....) and the same problem was there too. So that's not a CC problem but a factory defect which "corrupts" the drive. PS just tried my US Mothership and it works fine on my iMac.
Michael Cuscuna has nothing to do with the CC programme EMI Europe has so mailing or writing his is of no use. You should write to the EMI Europe head office (in London I believe) and complain there. EMI US is not using the CC at all so don't bother them with it. I agree it's a crappy way of doing business but I guess they had to invent something (which is useless after all).
Two of the Lighthouse Live set's are already out on cd and the '62 one will be issued on cd too soon. The Festival album will be released next may and the date with McCann will be issued next year. So apart from the Big Band date (which MC hates) we will get all the Pacific JC dates on cd in the near future!!!
I've just noticed a difference with the US (Mosaic produced) Tal Farlow and the Verve (EU) version. They mixed up the spine text for this one: it states The Complete Tal Farlow Verve Concert Band sessions!!!!! What a nice set that would be (if produced in the first place). Imagine Tal sitting in front of Gerry's Concert band and soloing all night long.......... Wake up!!!
I remember hearing a stereo recording of the Berliner Philharmoniker during the war on which you could hear the bombs falling. No joking! So that must be around 1944 I guess. Not the first I know but it sounded good.
good to see people as Che who are so passionate about their idols! For me I do like them but out of the last 4 CD's you can randomly pick one and have enough of it.
not so easy anymore since the older versions are deleted and the newer ones aren't released yet. Just sit tight and wait a few months and the newly remastered and who knows with extra tracks versions are available (around May I've been told).
Hello all,
does anyone know when these reissues will be issued? I've read the general release overview but no dates were stated. I'm a MPS nut so I really want some of the planned sets (Van Damme, Peterson, Gulda).
Anyone noticed these Water reissues have the 'Music by EMI" Logo on the spine? The others in the serie didn't have this (and the FBI warning of course).
Just heard the set will be Expansions, Extensions, Cosmos and Asante. No unissued session and a tentative release date of january 2006. McMastered will it be!!!!!!!!!!
