Happy Birthday Jim Alfredson!
PHILLYQ replied to Free For All's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
happy Birthday and thanks for having the whole cantakerous bunch!! -
Yes, indeed! I think that there was some sort of LP-only recordings that got released after that, but still.... Henry T. is too valuable for jazz not to be making records. Does anybody know the story here? Is it just that he has no label? IIRC, there's no label that will give him a deal he can live with so he hasn't been recording.

Very cool, it seems to have it own groove made up of all the other grooves! Nice job, Shawn.

happy Birthday Chuck- may you release frequently

Got a taker for Song X and Tal Farlow- anybody for Righteous Buddha? They're a funky organ trio(organ, bass, drums). -
"I think the Mets new stadium is much better than the Yankees, which really shouldn't be the case, should it????" Berigan ,both have their serious problems and both should be magnificent, especially when you consider how much NYC got fleeced to build them and how much they cost. Yankee Staium cost around $1.3 BILLION and has the most expensive tickets in baseball. I'm a Yank fan and it's weird to see so many empty seats every night right behind home plate. The Yanks cut the price in half for the best seats, but $1300+ is still absurd. In the old Yankee stadium the fans were practically on top of the action and this created a distinct home field advantage. 50000+ screaming people almost in your face is pretty intimidating, especially in a playoff game. The new Shea(I know it's really Citi Field/Taxpayer bailout field, and if the Mets start to play horribly it will become known as Shitty Field!) cost about $800 Million & has thousands of seats that have an obstructed view, so people in those seats can only guess or watch the giant TV to find out what happened in right field. What's worse is that the Mets don't identify those seats, so you could buy a ticket and THEN find out you can't see all that much. For all that money, couldn't the two stadia be decently designed?

hello all, I have four items to throw into the pile, two of which I originally received way back when from this thread: 1) The Return of Tal Farlow/1969 with Jack Six, John Scully & Alan Dawson(OJC) 2) Black, Blue and Bamboo by Righteous Buddha 3) Get Right by Righteous Buddha 4) Song X(original issue) First PM gets one, two, three or all four- let me know. -
They are absolute dog shit. The tin foil hat person in my thinks there are doing it on purpose so attendance can get worst and they can go to Bud and say there is no way we can compete in this market and stadium. The owner cares more about selling the team and making a profit then having a winner. Its an odd thing to deal with because as much as I want to support my team I don't want to give a one f-ing red cent to the ownership. Are they trying to get a new stadium? Has everyone else caught up to Billy Beane?

Yes, bright moments who is she?!!!!

I don't know, Dan. Have you ever compared before and after pix of Mike Lowell? If there's a more obvious juicer, I don't know who it would be. Manny and Lowell are just the tip of the iceberg. Once MLB gets to looking into this, who knows what might happen. I mean c'mon, Dan, the Yanks were up 3-0 in 2004 and lost the series? No way that happens unless are chemicals involved. Equally Dangerous Dave Up over and out. 2004 was Joe Torre killing his bullpen to lose the series against the Bosox- I thought Gordon's arm would fall off!

You know managers have it rough when fans complain about a 3 run inning. Kapler has had 3 successful SH in his past 1220 plate appearances. He spends more time muscling up than practicing bunts me thinks. Had he bunted you would have had Navarro coming up (.179) followed by the deep-in-a-slump B.J. hitting .157. Kapler is your best hitter of the moment. :rsmile: Good points, Quincy.

I second that for the saturday show in Brooklyn and the Sunday show at DROM in Manhattan. Smokin' stuff, lots of fun and I got to see Johnny E and meet the rest of the gang- real nice people.

If you are a Sabremetician you eschew the bunt. Their reasoning is that giving outs up is not a good move as you only get 27 of them. Also, giving up an out to score a run may take you out of a big inning and thus limit your scoring. I would bunt in that situation also. To me, if you're tied, down by a run or ahead by a run, late in the game scoring that one run is crucial, so you sacrifice to move over runners.

Gig a month in 2009 - a challenge
PHILLYQ replied to A Lark Ascending's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
I did my May gigs early- I caught Reptet on Saturday & Sunday- helluva lot of fun and great music. Also saw Burnt Sugar before Repter on Sunday(WOW). On Saturday I went to a Cherry Blossom themed fair at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens and caught a group that does 'Japanese Gypsy Rock'. It sounds almost as if Django's crowd lstened to rock and had a japanese element in their music. Fun Stuff: http://www.kagero.com/home.cfm?mpf=frame&
