The breaking in thing is just nuts, but there may be some truth in some of the other things he said. Who knows how it went down as far as the musical direction of WR? It's possible that Zawinul & Shorter wanted to go a different way, but it's also possible that they weren't looking to make lots of $$$ and that they actually wanted to go the way they did for musical reasons. I wonder what Wayne Shorter would say?

Even with that they are only 3 games out of a playoff spot.

I was watching it earlier today, a lot of fun.

But..... that's damn near EVERY Red Sox fan, not just Dan. And even among themselves, they argue vociferously over who hates the Red Sox more! The Rangers are in the wild-card running. Woo hoo. Hey, I'm happy for them because they're doing infinitely better than anyone (myself included) thought they would do this year; but they still got a ways to go before they become the powerhouse they have the potential to be. Nevertheless, win or lose, they're my team and I'll always root for 'em! The Rangers also have some good talent down on the farm from what I've heard, so the future looks bright for them. Tied for the wildcard with 50 games to go ain't bad either.

Well, Varitek is the only catcher in MLB history to have caught 4 no-hitters, so it's safe to say he calls a pretty good game. It's not his fault the pitcher left the slider up in Texeira's wheelhouse. Maybe he should have known his pitcher was leaving breaking balls up...I was never a catcher so I don't know. It's nitpicking, you're pretty much assessing the slump for what's wrong with how your boys are playing. For the Dodgers, who are now 17-16 since the return of Manny Ramirez, the problem has been the lack of run production. I don't have the stats but I'd bet dollars to donuts the RISP numbers are way down in that stretch, seems like they're stranding baserunners at the same rate they were plating them early in the season. The pitchers are overworked and are getting shelled more often. It's adding up to a late season slide. Torre called a team meeting after yesterday's loss, maybe he can fire up the troops. Noj, Torre has a penchant for overworking his bullpen(see Yankees 2004), so you may see some late inning collapses as the overworked bullpen wears out. If you're not scoring also it could get ugly...

WOW!!!!! That was some game!!! I spent a few innings standing up in my living room because the tension was too great. Great pitching by both sides and it came down to Francona having nobody left, so he has to put in some kid making his MLB debut. That was Tazawa, the promising guy Dan referred to several posts up the thread... man, tough game and environment to make your debut in. Amazing catch by Drew in the 14th, btw, to keep the Bosox alive. I'm also really impressed that the NY pitchers limited Boston to only 4 hits over 15 innings. The bullpen seems a lot more solid than it did earlier this season. Did you see any of the postgame, btw? Again, this strikes me as the loosest Yankee team I've seen in years. I mean, even A-Rod seems to have finally found his place and fit in...I was glad that it was Jeter on base when he hit his walk-off. I think having Hughes in the bullpen has helped a great deal. He's been coming in and throwing gas at 95 and that has helped the entire bullpen as far as roles, etc. I watched a little of the postgame- A-Rod got 'creamed' by Burnett(missed almost all of his face), and he was laughing about it and he said some complimetary things about the Bosox pitching. They do seem very loose, especially compared to last year. Girardi has really loosened up quite a bit- last year he seemed like he was ready to explode at any minute, this year he's much more relaxed. The additions of Burnett & Swisher have really helped the clubhouse atmosphere, those two guys love to pull pranks and horse around. This also seems to be the closest team they've had in awhile, it really seems like they're genuinely pulling for each other. I'm hoping for a strong and long outing from Sabathia today. Still, plenty of baseball left...

Have you tried corn with mayonnaise? Put on some mayo, cayenne pepper, cumin and some salt. I was skeptical at first but I tried it and I love it!!!

caught Dumstaphunk and Soulive this past Friday at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Me and my friend took the bus there(parking is HORRIBLE around there!) and it had started raining earlier, sowe get off the bus and we spent about 45 minutes just standing around in a bus shelter with a couple of drunks and a couple of middle-aged women who looked rather proper. We finally made our way to the venue and donned garbage bag ponchos(I was prepared) and stood in the rain with about 75 people. The concert finally started about 30 minutes late and Dumstaphunk came out on FIRE! They were extremely funky, and on some tunes they used two bass players. About halfway through their set the rain stopped and then the venue started to fill up with what looked like a jam band crowd and some of the worst dancing I've ever seen(Do they go together?)!. After a break Soulive came out and played a very energetic set with some special guests, John Scofield and Christian Scott. Scofield was very on, soloing frequently and very well. Christian Scott played some great trumpet, and there two saxophonists added also. Pretty good for what looked to be a drenched evening and the price was unbeatable- free!

There's 'Out Loud'(1 studio disc) and 'Out Louder'(1 studio disc +1 live disc). I would recommend 'Out Louder' as the live disc is excellent, smokin' Sco + MMW.

I watched some of the 9th inning and Cubs fans watching must have been reaching for the Tums or a stiff drink! Marmol was pretty shaky in the 9th. In the end a win is a win...

Hi Allen: I am not coming to this from the perspective of a critic. That's my deal...its more about information, opinion, debate, interviews, etc. That's what I was trying to explain in the beginning. I am trying to get to a lot of those artists "under the radar." That's why I wanted to do the page. Carole, If what you're looking to do is to shine a light on artists that don't get much play I wish you well. Folks here could supply you with many names deserving more ink etc.
