  7. I live in NYC and I won't miss it. Nearly every event featured very high ticket prices and sometimes too many groups. By too many groups, I mean so many that everyone had about a half hour, no encores. The concerts were verrry mainstream and frquently lacked any imagination. My $0.02
  8. Why did they stop making diet Pepsi Twist? It was only the best diet soda I ever had...
  9. Today at work whenever someone sneezed they were asked if they were in Queens or Mexico over the weekend! http://www.nydailynews.com/news/index.html
  10. And i'm sure his bread (or make it hors d'oeuvre) is well buttered by now. I like most of his albums from the earlier years (about up to 1997), but IMO for the last 10 years Zorn definnitely stuck in a groove. And he should stop pretending to be a serious modern composer, because his best work happens when he and his partners in crime are having fun, either intentionally or not. (Big Gundown, Naked City, Spy vs Spy, Ganryu Island, Sonny Clark Memorial Qt, Cobra (one on hatArt), etc.). John Cage and Steve Reich he is not, but even if he put up nothing but aforementioned albums he would become a solid part of jazz history. Apparently, he can do about anything at this point and sell it (hey, he is officially a "Genius" via McArthur Grant , but in all honesty, do you see much progress in his development as an artist? Not to nitpick, but does being a serious composer preclude having fun?
  11. Hello all, I was looking at the cd list at our friend Hiroshi's Early records site and I found two Miles listings that I'm stumped on. One is called 'Live in Holland': Davis,Miles(tp) Live In Holland Century CECC 0093(Stash) 1200 The other is 'Another Mutiny' : Davis,Miles(tp) Another Munity(2CD) No Label No Number 1800 Anybody know anything about either or both? Thank much for any help.
  12. "...Indian singer Falguni Shah" She's also known as just Falu. I've seen her live a couple times and sh'e a helluva singer.
  13. Is it me or is Stewart's voice really shot? He sounded rather weak to my ears.
  14. I'll be at the DROM show and I'm trying to wheedle the Vox pop as well.
  15. They added Warren Haynes from the Allman Brothers- he's a helluva guitarist.
  16. He's on AAJ, but you could try contacting Vic Juris- he plays there sometimes.
  17. 1962, Yankee Stadium(the original), a doubleheader on a Sunday. I know I saw Mantle, but I don't remember who the Yanks played- I was 6.
  18. Texeira always starts slow, but I'm concerned about the bullpen already. Bruney has been good, Rivera is Rivera, but so far everyone else is iffy. Coke is so far NOT IT.
  19. Me too. But I think NBC tried it once (not an option, they just bagged the announcers) as an experiment, around 1980 iirc. The broadcast wasn't considered a success, so I doubt it'll be done again. My memory may be faulty here, but I seem to recall that the game was near the end of the season with two horrible teams and was dubbed the 'Toilet Bowl'
  20. You can take checks, but I would specify only bank checks or money orders. If you get a bad personal check your bank will most likely hit you with a nice fee, and out of state checks may take awhile to clear. I take Paypal only and skip the hassle.
  21. I like watching football but almost all of the announcers I find very annoying. It seems like so many of them just open up the cliche book and read from it, and forget about the use of stats! Third down conversion rates are frequently cited, even though they have no correlation to winning, etc. Most of the time I shut the sound off and play music instead. Why do networks pay so much money to announcers? Have you ever tuned into a game for the announcer?
  22. The problems in 2007, which came to a head in the last couple of months of that year, arose from personal attacks and indeed the different American and European interpretations of freedom of speech. They drove members like couw, deus62/neveronfriday and a few others away. I was also very upset and left the board for a while. I miss couw - the board was a better place with his contributions. You're right. Unfortunately, he has no intention to return. Please send my regrets about this to John, if possible. He was a good guy. (and hopefully still is...) miss couw 2. he was a lotta fun. me 3, Couw was a very cool guy.
  23. Sure looks like him, and I'm just about certain that it's the same guitar he used also. Too bad it's for a crappy beer
