  1. " My personal favorite member of the group by far was the drummer" may have made the point, but what do I know? I'm not very well studied on *Reynoldian* scripture If you read your Reynolds regularly, you know that he LOVES Tom Rainey's playing.
  2. (according to mlb-tv 2 hours ago) rodriquez is threatening to sue yanquis for bad medical care and trying to get rid of him, as well as suing mlb and yanquis. is it not interesting that all of the players suspended are latin americans? If some of the rumors of A-Roid being a steerer of players to the clinic is true, it would make sense that he would be friendly to a lot of latino players and would lead them down that road.
  3. Hear! Hear!
  4. I had never consciously eaten parsnips before, but this thread intrigued me, especially this post. Last night I roasted parsnips, carrots and onions with olive oil and an Italian seasoning blend instead of salt and pepper. (The onions were suggested by a lady at the farmers' market. But I think onions make almost anything better, anyway.) Delicious! So thanks Jim & Philly. Of course, I had to remember to search for "parnsips" to find this thread. Glad you enjoyed it, I love when people try something I suggest and like it, even more if they eat my food and like it. If you're ever near Brooklyn, come over and we'll feast!
  5. Somebody at Hoffman had one for sale.

  8. He's already done so much for so long.
  9. Mix some parsnips, carrots and any other root veggies you have, toss with olive oil and salt and pepper, roast in a pan in a 400+ oven, good stuff!
  10. Milwaukee is spelled wrong!
  11. Loved the ovation he got last night, well deserved and a cool move with the defensive team not taking the field so he was there by himself.
  12. Here's Youtube of them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXSG-Jf-7WA
  13. He's a good hitter from the A's, I think he's in his second year. A lot of A's players get little or no recognition.
  14. My best wishes to him.
  15. Huge gamble by the Nets, if no title next year or the year after, they could be a huge mess.Ballsy owner. Apparently, Andrei Kirilenko thinks they have the best chance to win. He signed a 2-year deal that will pay him about $6.8 million less if he only plays only one season for them, or $3.64 million less if he doesn't opt of the second season. He opted out of $10 million for what would have been his final season with the Wolves. P.S. The Nets were already looking @ a $70 million luxury tax next year before signing him. If he can stay healthy for the right parts of the season he's a nice addition. But along with how he perceives the team's chances perhaps the Russian ownership played a role. Hey, if people bring up Jay-Z's tiny percentage as a draw all the time I can mention the majority owner's background as being one as well. And Brooklyn is home to a LOT of Russian folks!
  16. Haven't heard a note, but I just ordered it, Mike's posts are usually on the money about music.
  17. You're about 3 hours out of NYC, right? IMHO, that's a long trip, but if YOU don't think so, that's what counts...
  18. Mel Brooks has also written music for some of his films.
  19. Isn't that mostly Bargnani for Novak, one good-shooting guy who does little else for another?
  20. Huge gamble by the Nets, if no title next year or the year after, they could be a huge mess.Ballsy owner.
  21. Nice football score!
  22. I went to see Savion Glover this afternoon. I post this in the music section because the musicality of the tappers was just amazing! The show is entitled STEPZ, and it's Glover, another guy and three women all tapping away. They tapped to some Coltrane, Stevie Wonder and a few other things. The program noted that the performance times vary greatly because the show is largely improvised. Glover and the other guy did a bit with the 'Mission Impossible' theme that I would have thought impossible if I didn't see it. An absolutely wonderful afternoon of tap. I went with my wife, her sister, and my sister-in-law's 11 year old daughter, who likes dance. We waited around after the performance and Glover and the other dancers were quite gracious and signed autographs and posed for pictures. The 11 year old was a bit shy, so I grabbed her arm and brought her over to one of the female dancers(Ayodele Casel)and told Ms. Casel that the girl was shy. Ms. Casel gave her a big hug! It made the girl's day and was a wonderful moment.
