  1. You can't go wrong with anything he recorded for BN 1963--65. I would also recommend this one:
  2. You guys recorded the Art Museum gig, right??
  3. When's the next one coming out?? And when is the band coming back to Philly??
  4. Just placed an order. Thanks for the tip! Ditto. Well, I got the book today, and it is indeed very nice and clearly a labor of love, but the dustjacket was really beat up. I don't mean a little bit - it almost looks like it was removed, crumpled up and then straightened out as best as possible and put back on the book. The book itself is in better shape, but the base of the spine is banged up and there's a scrape across the front cover. In short, it looks like a used book. I expect better for $45. I'm going to email Cadence and see what they have to say. I'd be interested to know if your copy looks any better when you receive it from them. Whoa. That's a bummer. I got my copy last Friday. It's in better shape but not perfect. The dust jacket is definitely "shop worn". One of the bottom corners of the book is a little banged up but nothing too major. In fact the corner damage could be from UPS. The book is pretty amazing though and I'm glad to have it. The photographs are incredible. I haven't had time to read all of the interviews yet.

  6. It's hard for me to believe that he is having a positive impact seeing how he just flat out sucked here. Actually, what's even harder for me to stomach is that the Sixers paid him $38 million just to go away. However, I love the production he's be giving my fantasy team.
  7. Dang. The Sixers suck. Hard. Up by 17 at the half and playing at home vs. the Cavs w/ no LeBron I figured it was over.Turn off the tv, go down stairs, wash the dishes, etc., about an hour later I turn on the radio to get the score and they lost by 8 points!!! WTF???

I haven't. How's Moncur's playing on that?? I saw him last fall w/ Khan Jamal and Yahya Abdul-Majid. It was not the best show. He hardly played at all and when he did it was barely audible. And what was audible wasn't really adding all that much to the preformance. It seemed like the other two were trying to cover for him.
  9. Cue up theme song from Deliverance.
  10. They need to up the ante for Gasol.
  11. The Sixers beat the Cavs in Cleveland????
  12. Just placed an order. Thanks for the tip! Ditto.
  13. Jackie McLean: Consequence (Remastered) is no longer available
  14. What's the over/under on Jerry Jones bringing back Jimmy Johnson???
  15. I've been saying that for years. HOLY CRAP! I thought you guys were just kidding. Tuna Cans Self Parcells retires from coaching, leaving Cowboys after 4 seasons JAIME ARON Associated Press IRVING, Texas - Bill Parcells retired from coaching Monday, leaving the Dallas Cowboys after four seasons and ending a stellar career that featured three Super Bowl appearances and two championships. The announcement came 15 days after the Cowboys' season ended with a heartbreaking playoff loss in Seattle. He'd been at his office nearly every day since, and there were other indications that the 65-year-old coach was returning for a fifth year in Dallas and 20th as an NFL head coach. "I am retiring from coaching football," Parcells said in a statement. "I want to thank Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones for their tremendous support over the last four years. Also, the players, my coaching staff and others in the support group who have done so much to help. Dallas is a great city and the Cowboys are an integral part of it. I am hopeful that they are able to go forward from here." The announcement came in a morning e-mail. There was no immediate statement from Jones, the team owner, although one was planned for later in the day. There were no immediate plans for a news conference. "I am in good health and feel lucky to have been able to coach in the NFL for an extended period of time," Parcells said. "I leave the game and the NFL with nothing but good feelings and gratitude to all the players, coaches and other people that have assisted me in that regard. " Parcells won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants. He came to Dallas four seasons ago energized by the challenge of restoring glory to "America's Team." He went 34-32 and definitely left the Cowboys better than he found them, but his tenure ultimately may be remembered for the lack of a playoff victory. His teams went 0-2 in the postseason. Dallas appeared headed to a breakthrough win this month in Seattle, but Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo botched the hold on a short field goal with a little more than a minute left and the Cowboys lost 21-20. They lost four of their last five games, including the final three, after holding a two-game division lead in December. Dallas hasn't won a playoff game since 1996, easily the longest skid in the history of the franchise that's been to a record eight Super Bowls. Parcells' legacy with the Cowboys can be framed this way: Instead of joining Tom Landry, Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer as coaches who led them to championships, he leaves lumped with Chan Gailey and Dave Campo.
  16. Well I guess enough time has passed for even the Cowboys' fans to have a chuckle..... Congrats to the Indy/Chicago fans on the board. I didn't think either of your teams had what it takes to get to the SB this year. Clearly, they both do.
  17. Hey John great to meet(finally!) you and your wife. Well I only caught the 2nd set but it was great. Nice crowd. I was a little apprehensive that there would be a small turn out because of the weather but it was packed. And we're talking a pretty good sized room here folks. Jim, Joe, and Randy - what can I say? You guys get better and better everytime I see ya. I wish you guys lived in Philly. In addition to the highlights that Felser mentioned I like to add that Randy's harp solo on "Running Off at the Mouth"(Did I get the title right?) was ferocious! I had totally forgot, until Ron reminded me, that Randy played the harmonica. Sweet. Jim - your daughter is beautiful. Those rosy cheeks!! What a doll face. She did really well. My son would have been racing around yelling at the top of lungs until the guards asked us to leave.

    Neil Young

I have it, and it's fantastic. Interestingly enough, it's taken from the March 6 & 7, 1970 Fillmore show (I'm not sure which one). The opening act was the Miles Davis Quintet (with Wayne Shorter and Chick Corea). The March 7th Miles show was recorded and documented as "It's About That Time: Live at The Fillmore East." Put on the Miles and follow it up with the Neil! It's almost like being there! Too bad he didn't release the whole show

Don't know the mechanics of the deal but here's a quote from an email, "Dave does receive some royalties from the BYG catalog, although he's an exception as he an agent that aggressively tracks this stuff. It's not much however. "

It's unclear whether it will ever see a "legit" release. But that's not the real issue at play here. The question that should be asked is why should DMG be getting money for selling an album when the performers, copyright owners, etc., do not get any money from it? According to DB's manager, DB is one of the few artists who actually does receive monetary compensation, albeit very little, from BYG.

Re:Black Ark I emailed Noah Howard before Christmas and asked him if he would be re-releasing "Black Ark" or "Berlin Concert" anytime soon. In his reply he said,"yes we will release the cd in the spring". I'm not sure which album he meant or if he meant that he was going to release both. Re: DMG rips I spoke w/ the manager for Dave Burrell about DMG selling cdr's of "La Vie De Boheme". He said they were definitely not authorized copies but that there was little he could do to stop them from selling them.
