  1. Hey JETman - the Mets are accepting applications for all positions
  2. Lidge in the 9th tonight - single, walk, K, walk, walk. Cholly yanks him. Now on to Contreras. K. One more out to go... GO to end the game. Phew
  3. Halladay has a 4.41 ERA in his last five starts. Double Hmm...
  4. Well Doc pitched 6 innings tonight and allowed 3 runs on 10 hits(1 HR). On the plus side he had 9 strike outs and no walks. Hmm...
  5. And the Braves lost today falling 2.5 behind the Phillies. The Fightin's are down in Miami w/ Halladay on the mound tonight. Doc has been a little shaky, relatively speaking, his last couple of starts so it would be nice to see him get back on track.
  6. I seem to remember him doing something similar last season with the Phillies. I think he won his first 3 or 4 games then lost 4 in a row. He won the last 2 or 3 regular season games and was un-hittable in the post season. Not time to hit the panic button yet. Check it out... Cliff Lee from Aug. 1 to Aug. 31, '10: 7 GS, 45.1 IP, 6.35 ERA; Cliff Lee from Aug. 29 to Oct. 1, '09: 7 GS, 39.2 IP, 6.13 ERA And we all know how he did after 10/01/09 ....
  7. Yeah another ring would make me forgive and forget a lot of the misery of the 80's/90's. This is really the best time that I can remember to be a Phillies fan. This year has been so crazy w/ all of the guys on the DL(18 at last count) and to think that w/ 3 weeks to go we have the best record in the NL. It's just incredible. Hopefully they can make it to the playoffs and have some more success.

I only have the two Columbia LPs. I need to check out his early stuff. Thanks for the reminder.
  9. Love this move... As expected, the Phillies have flip-flopped Roy Oswalt and Kyle Kendrick in the rotation, starting Oswalt on Friday against the Nationals and Kendrick on Saturday. The move enables the Phillies to line up Oswalt, Cole Hamels and Roy Halladay for the series against the Braves that starts Monday. Those same three will then be available to pitch the season-ending series against the Braves in Atlanta.

  11. Welcome back, Clem.
  12. Dave Burrell, at the end of Thursday night's show, got up and said that the set that he had just played(w/ Sabir Mateen & William Parker) was for Noah Howard. He then went on to say some really nice stuff about Noah. It was a touching moment at the end of an incredible performance. There were audio/video recordings made for possible future release.
  13. The funny thing about the baseball gods is that despite an injury riddled season and not having Youk & Pedroia it all comes down to Papelbon,Take away his 7 BLOWN saves and the Sox are leading in the wild card race! That is kinda amazing...still think that Francona should be voted manager of the year. As of today the Phillies have the best record in the NL. Something that was unthinkable just a few weeks ago. Amazing that they have the same record as they did last year at this time, except this year they have had 17 players on the DL. 17!
  14. Who the HELL is Nate Robinson?? I had never heard of him before tonight when he entered the 8th w/ a 10 run cushion. He left after facing 8 batters, letting 5 of them score and a man on 3rd. I just checked his stats and he was DFA by the Marlins back in July. WTF? What's even crazier is that he's making $10M this season. Jesus now it's 10-6 Phillies. Thank goodness the Marlins only have 3 more outs.
  15. Vinyl. CDs at work, in the car, or on home computer. I never listen to MP3s.
  16. Happy 65th Pigpen.
  17. Ryan Howard is 11 for 23 with 6 home runs vs. Chris Volstad of the Marlins. Raul Ibanez is 9 for 18 with three homers off him. Ouch.
  18. Rangda - False Flag (Drag City)
  19. Alright! The Phillies are back on top the NL East for the first time since May 29. Thank you Pittsburgh. Don't feel bad Berigan. This race will go down to the last week.
  20. Which Phillies would that be?/ The ones that could only manage one hit off a pitcher making his first MLB start yesterday? Or the Phillies that scored 7 runs in the night cap of yesterday's doubleheader for the win?? The Phillies bats are schizophrenic. Oh well at least we don't have to worry about the Mets catching either team.
  21. I'm happy w/ my VPI. I've heard good things about the Nitty Gritty line too.
  22. Just a reminder - this Thursday/Frday: Dave Burrell with Sabir Mateen and William Parker 70th Birthday Celebration Philadelphia Art Alliance 251 S. 18th Street Philadelphia, PA Price: $12 General Admission
