  2. The WFC magic number is 8. Can't believe the Reds took a 2-0 lead into the 9th and lost 4-3 to the Marlins.
  3. Well when I last checked ESPN's site the magic number for the WFC was 9. Now this morning it's 10. Some quick detective work show that ESPN forgot that the Braves were still playing - they won - so it stays at 10. That means the Phils are 7.5 up w/ 17 to play. So if they are to collapse they would equal the historic Mets collapse of 2007. Yikes. The next 6 games are brutal all on the road - 3 in Atlanta followed by 3 in Florida
  4. Scratch Acid - Just Keep Eating (Rabid Cat, w/ original 3D cover) Joachim Kuhn - Sound of Feelings (Actuel/BYG)

    John Lennon

I never appreciated how creative he was on the guitar until I learned how to play "Dear Prudence" and "Julia" . Simple yet intricate, melodic guitar parts. Amazing really when you consider he had no formal musical training. But yeah he could get his free freaky thing on too.
  6. The Philly show that I saw on tour that he did w/ Kadri Gopalnath was the best I've ever heard him play. The music on Kinsmen evolved out of that tour. While I enjoy that album I think the show(and the other shows from that tour that I've heard) was much better. He had one of the NYC shows w/ Kadri Gopalnath streaming up on his website a few years back.
  7. How can I get a copy?

  9. Updated: September 14, 2009, 8:27 PM ET Yankee Stadium HR mark set Associated Press NEW YORK -- The Yankee Stadium record for home runs in a season has been broken with eight games to spare. Los Angeles Angels slugger Vladimir Guerrero hit the 216th home run in 73 games at the new $1.5 billion ballpark, one more than the high set at the previous stadium in 2004. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4473926
  10. Way to go Bruce!!
  11. I think the Pats deserved to win. Brady led two drives for TDs in the final 5 minutes and as Conn pointed out they dominated the game statistically. However, Bills should have won and would have won had McKelvin just took a knee. What I'm wondering is - can the Bills bounce back next week? That will show what kind of team they are.
  12. Good luck Paps. Sounds like they caught very early. I'm sure you'll be fine.
  13. I think Garcia was signed for a week maybe two. Vick is back in week 3. Garcia probably won't see a snap.
  14. Go for the surgery. A guy I work w/ had it done he was back to work 4 weeks later. That was over two years ago and he's fine now. My father-in-law did the radiation and chemo around the same time and he's not doing as well. The chemo really did a number on him. Had you been having your PSA test annually or was this the first time?
  15. If McKelvin takes a knee game over. Pretty impressive game by the Bills any way. Brady looked really sharp on those last two drives.
  16. The Phillies swept a doubleheader from the Mets yesterday. Lidge is still provoking a white knuckled reaction from me every time he gets the ball from Cholly. Thank God the Phils had a 3 run lead in the 9th when Lidge gave up 2 runs. Pedro however looked like the 3 time Cy Young award winner yesterday blanking the Mets for 8 innings. Leading the division in mid-September is such a strange experience for a Phils fan. Doesn't happen very often. 14.
  17. You know it's been a good 6 or 7 years since I had that Grateful Dead listening jones but my initial reaction upon hearing about this box set was,"What a strange choice of shows for a box set treatment! Especially considering how many more runs are more deserving." Don't get me wrong this is a very fine 3 show run but I don't even remember this run as being the best Winterland run from 1977. Maybe I need to revisit this run again. Also, IIRC the June 7th show is missing about a minute or two from the master reels of UJB. All of the previous circulating copies had a Audience source patch. I know - not that big a deal but I'm just wondering how they covered it.
  18. Out 2-4 weeks while Vick is still ineligible to play for another game. I guess Kolb will have to carry the team for at least one game. Has he looked ok yet? In a word, "No." Good game from Romo today. I guess getting rid of TO and JS was what he needed.
  19. Today's listening... John Cater - Dance of the Love Ghosts (Gramavision) Then back to the Arista/Freedom marathon ... New York Mary - s/t (AL 1019) Hampton Hawes - Live at the Montmartre (AL 1020) Ted Curson - Tears for Dolphy (AL 1021) Human Arts Ensemble - Under the Sun (AL 1022)
  20. Iggles DESTROYED the Panthers today in Carolina. McNabb breaks a rib and is out 2-4 weeks. Don't know who to be madder at: 1: the Carolina player that made the late hit while DMac lay on the ground after scoring a TD, 2. the refs that didn't call a penalty.
  21. Well granted it won't be as bad as choking on a 7 1/2 game lead w/ 17 to play like the Mets did in 2007 but it will still suck.
  22. Albert Ayler - Witches and Devils (AL 1018)
  23. When the Phillies finally choke and miss the playoffs this October you can look back at today's game vs. the Mets as a metaphor for everything that went wrong w/ their season. :rmad: :rmad: :rmad:
