  5. This is pretty funny.... Like most people, I was initially confused by EMI’s decision to release remastered versions of all 13 albums by the Liverpool pop group Beatles, a 1960s band so obscure that their music is not even available on iTunes. The entire proposition seems like a boondoggle. I mean, who is interested in old music? And who would want to listen to anything so inconveniently delivered on massive four-inch metal discs with sharp, dangerous edges? The answer: no one. When the box arrived in the mail, I briefly considered smashing the entire unopened collection with a ball-peen hammer and throwing it into the mouth of a lion. But then, against my better judgment, I arbitrarily decided to give this hippie shit an informal listen. And I gotta admit—I’m impressed. This band was mad prolific. Chuck Klosterman Repeats The Beatles
  6. I wonder if Lincecum will wind up on the DL. Lincecum scratched due to back injury
  7. Bradley Thomas Lidge. Enters the 9th tonight w/ a 2 run lead against the Nationals. Single, fielder's choice out at first, walk, hit batter. So that's bases loaded, 1 out, bottom of the 9th, 2 run lead and...... Cholly pulls Lidge for Madson. Game over. Hopefully that's it for Lidge. Unfortunately, knowing Cholly he'll bring him back tomorrow.
  8. Frank Lowe - Fresh (AL 1015)
  9. It's a good deal anytime you get a first round pick for a 30 year old lineman, imo.
  10. I had two done about 15 years ago. The endodontist's name who performed both procedures was - Dr. Craig Hurtt. Despite his name I don't remember the root canals being all that painful but like others have posted they were incredibly boring. My root canals were on the bottom molars all the way in the back of my mouth. I've always found that dental work done on teeth in my lower jaw is less intense then work done on teeth in the upper jaw so take that into account. I paid nothing because the procedures were done via the dental school at the university where I work. Oh and if you think you might need a root canal make sure that the dentist that performs the procedure is an endodontist and not a general dentist. Just sayin'.

  17. Amen brother. Yup, they're not sold individually. Other ways that while not a perfect substitute but may work for you include finding people who are dumping their Dr. Ebbetts or Purple Chick CDRs of the mono vinyl needle drops, or if you're vinyl hound. Thanks Quincy!
  18. Don't you mean Brilliant Circles? Fantastic record, in any event. Oh right, my brain has been acting really silly lately.....
  19. Okay so the only way to get the mono mixes is if I buy the box??
  20. Stanley Cowell - Bright Corners (AL 1009)
  21. Actually he kinda sucked during his prime. We had him in Philly for a year and he was not the player that he would develop into during his 30's. He really didn't blossom until he went to the Spurs.
  22. And meanwhile Brad Penny - He of 9.00+ ERA in his last 4 starts w/ the Red Sox - is blanking the WFC on 3 hits in in the 5th. WTF???? EDIT: make that shut them out over 8 innings. Thanks Theo.
  23. Wasn't Webster Hall a.k.a "The Ritz" back in the 80's ??? I have a vague recollection of seeing some indie rock shows there.
  24. There's a local drummer named Butch Ballard who played & recorded w/ Fats Waller, Armstrong, Ellington, & Basie!!! He'll be 91 in December. And the cat still plays out. Check it... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butch_Ballard
  25. Oliver Lake - Heavy Spirits (AL 1008)
