  1. I was just listening to that one the other day. Better than the AMG review would suggest. The one I hope to get my mitts on someday is the Andromeda Strain, which has some the coolest packaging ever. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3111/256530...9c6c8eb.jpg?v=0
  2. RIP. Loved his work with Big Star and the Replacements.
  3. Love Magic, but I have to go w/ #23 from Chicago as best ever. Magic Johnson agrees too.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jAbDdCz49Y As does Kobe.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WxHQCZ4geQ&NR=1
  4. Make that 8 blown saves, 0-5 record, 7.27 ERA.
  5. Gil Melle - Tome VI (Verve, yellow label)
  6. Here's a recap of the Phils/Braves tonight. Bobby Cox lets right handed Rafael Soriano pitch to Ryan Howard in the 9th. Ballgame.
  7. Cubs leading the Pirates 14 - ZIP in the 2nd inning at Wrigley. edit: it's now 17 -2 in the 5th.

Here are some photos of Rashied and Sonny taken by board member Alan Lankin.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/alankin/sets/...0524464/detail/
  9. WTF is WFC? (NSFW)
  10. The dog owner in me is bummed. However, the Eagles fan in me is intrigued. He's probably better than the overrated Donovan Mcnabb. Eagles and Pats are playing tonight in a matchup between the two "deepest" teams, according to several sportswriters. I really don't see anybody stopping the Patriots once the season starts. The Cubs fan that hit Victorino w/ the cup of beer last night is more accurate then McNabb.

  12. The WFC sweep the Cubbies at Wrigley. Tough series in Atlanta starting tomorrow.

    Rashied Ali

Very, very sad day. I saw Rashied perform about 10 times the past 7 or 8 years. He was always nothing less than spectacular. R.I.P.
  14. Agree. I don't see the Cubs making the post season this year as the WC. The Rockies, Giants, Marlins, and the Braves are playing better ball. Tough series for the Cubs losing a heart breaker on Tuesday, getting blown out tonight, and tomorrow they go up against Cliff Lee. How about that Cubs fan throwing a beer on Victorino as he was making a catch?? Stupid move. If that had happened in Philly ESPN would ripping the Philly fans a new one.

  16. Phils can forget about repeating this year w/ Bradley Thomas Lidge as their closer. It amazing of how poorly he has pitched this year compared to last year when he was a perfect 48 for 48. Including tonight he has 7 blown saves and an ERA of 7.29 WTF?
  17. The Phillies farm system is stacked according to Philly media and ESPN. At one time Carrasco was considered the arm of the future for the Phils but he took a step backwards this season. He should have made the big league club this spring but pitched very poorly. He's only 22 so there's still time for him to figure it out. He's someone, like Gavin Floyd, who might benefit from the change of scenery. Donald was blocked by Utley and Rollins. Mike Schmidt worked w/ him a lot during spring training and LOVES the guy. I think he will definitely be a solid utility player at the major league level someday, maybe even a starter. Marson was the starting catcher on the U.S. Olympic team last summer. His defense is suspect but he's got a pretty good bat from what I understand. Don't know any thing about Knapp except that he's 18, 6'5", and throws smoke. One of the stories I read on ESPN quoted a scout who thought Knapp could be a "Roy Halladay type pitcher someday." Now wouldn't that be ironic.
  18. Ricciardi is an ass. This was his best chance to maximize Halladay's value and he didn't get the trade done. Now he's got to pay the rest of Halladay's salary this season(another $5 Million) and unload him for less in return in the winter. Toronto fans should be pissed.
  19. Canseco says MLB facing bigger issue Jose Canseco, whose 2005 book arguably started the cascade of revelations and an investigation into the use of performance-enhancing drugs in baseball, barely raised an eyebrow when he was told David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez are reportedly on the list of 104 players who tested positive in 2003. "When you tell me something I didn't already know, I'll be surprised," Canseco told ESPN. "And I'll tell you this, Major League Baseball is going to have a big, big problem on their hands when they find out they have a Hall of Famer who's used." When asked to name who that Hall of Fame player is, Canseco refused to divulge who he believes it is. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4367025 So anyone want to take a guess as to who the HoF juicer is???? I'm thinking it's gotta be Ricky Henderson.
  20. We made until 10:37pm July 28th w/ out turning on our AC. Usually it's on by the first week of May.
  21. Man, tough choice! I got a free ticket to Tortoise here on Wednesday. I haven't liked much they've done since the first record, but it will still be enjoyable. They've got talent, even if it sometimes gets lost in the noodling. Saw SY about 3 weeks ago. They played the whole new album, which I had not heard before the show. I think it sounded pretty good and will end up buying it at some point. They did "Death Valley 69" and some tunes from Daydream for the two encores. Saw Tortoise last week.. Again they have a new album out that I had not heard before. Good show. They did do the title track off of TNT, along w/most of the new album according to my friend. The thing about Tortoise is that they are an instrumental band w/out a really standout instrumentalist. All of the musicians in the band are very good it's just that no one really sticks out as memorable, imo, which can be problematic at times. While their music is miles away from the Grateful Dead, they kind of remind me of seeing the Dead w/out Garcia. Both bands are tight ensembles that, at times, seem to have a telepathic communication amongst themselves. However, they are both missing a leader to navigate the twists and turns of the jams and as a result sometimes the music doesn't really go anywhere. Also another problem for me is that their albums are very inconsistent. They'll have 3 or 4 really good tunes and the rest just sounds like filler to my ears. What makes Tortoise for me are their genre jumping arrangements/instrumentation. Would loved to have seen a Garcia/Tortoise collaboration. Alas.
  22. They need to release the whole list right now. No more of this leaking names through the press in drips and drabs. It's like bleeding to death from a 1000 paper cuts.
  23. :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P Can you know say the same thing about the Braves W.C. chances????Thanks! LOL!!
  24. Why don't you just build some shelves? That's what I did. Look here's a photo(probably not safe for work) I took of Mrs.Deeley filing some vinyl away last night.
  25. Back from a summer vacation to North Carolina.... Where to begin?? Nice to see the WFC have finally got over their June swoon. Looks like we're getting Cliff Lee for 3 prospects. Kinda of bummed b/c this means that they are dropping out of the Halladay sweepstakes. Plus he's another lefty to go w/ Hamels and Happ. However, he's a lot cheaper in terms of salary and prospects. Phils still need a right handed bat off the bench and another arm for the bullpen wouldn't hurt either. Lidge is still injured despite what he and the Phils say. I wish he had gotten his knee cleaned up back in May when he went on the DL. Alas. Halladay - Well I was really hoping that the rumors were true and that he was coming to Philly but that dumb ass GM in Toronto over played his hand and F'ed it up. I don't think Halladay goes anywhere at this point. Minaya/Mets - What a freakin' soap opera! Not sure if they can be counted out of the post season yet though. If they can get everyone healthy they can still be tough.
