  1. Rams looked bad. What's up w/ Brady? That hit he took didn't look too good.
  2. In all fairness, DMG has a hell of a monthly rent to cough up. Buying direct from the source will always be cheaper. Granted, but that doesn't excuse DMG marking up the price $34, IMHO. That's a 60% price gouge. But hey it's your money. YMMV.
  3. I live in Philly and I ordered mine directly from Hazel. I just checked my CC statement and my final cost is - $56.68 Screw DMG.

  15. CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! HOLY COOOOWWWW!!!! Be prepared for the October let down. Now, now, they are now a team that has a monster budget like the Yankees or Red Sox, one of the best teams money can buy, they should go far. Money talks, and all that.... True, but remember it's the CUBS. They always find a way to snap defeat out of the jaws of victory......

  20. Spybot Search & Destroy has a user's forum on their website. Post your problem in the "malware removal" forum. The moderators at SD are very knowledgeable/helpful. Small caveat - it may take 3 or 4 days before you get an initial response. http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288 The mods helped me get rid of a nasty virus (called "XP Antivirus2008") last week.
  21. Jarman, Moye, Pullen - Magic Triangle(Black Saint)
  22. Some props from this weeks DMG newsletter..... Another "we been waitin' for it" reissue [of the year!] ROSCOE MITCHELL With ANTHONY BRAXTON/HENRY THREADGILL/JOSEPH JARMAN/GEORGE E LEWIS/MALACHI FAVORS/MUHAL RICHARD ABRAMS/WALLACE McMILLAN - Nonaah [2 CD set] (Nessa 09/10; USA) [pronounced No Nay Ah] This is one of Mitchell's best solo statements - it's tough, so many of his records are amazing - and it's never been on CD! It includes a full-side [old-school LP lingo] treatment of the title cut, solo works, duos with Anthony Braxton (sopranino sax) & Malachi Favors (bass), a trio with George Lewis (trombone) & Muhal Richard Abrams (piano), and an incredible sax quartet with Mitchell, Henry Threadgill (as), Joseph Jarman (reeds), and the undervalued/underrecorded Wallace McMillan (bass). Whew! This truly historic double album was released in 1977 and has long been out-of-print. Don't even bother to vacillate - this BELONGS at your home, in your player. Period!

  25. From the Philadelphia Music Project homepage.... International House Philadelphia received $40,000 to present “Tete-a-tete” in collaboration with Ars Nova Workshop. The five-concert series features duo performances by Tony Conrad and John Cale, Pharoah Sanders and Hamid Drake, Mats Gustaffson and Thurston Moore, The Paul Bley Duo, and Kieran Hebden and Steve Reid. Collectively, this series of duets showcases a cross-section of experimental, improvisational, and exploratory music from the past 40 years. Ars Nova Workshop received $40,000 to present “Free/Form: Composer Portraits,” a six-concert series featuring the work of three composer/musicians: Andrew Hill (1937-2007), Julius Hemphill (1940-1995) and Anthony Braxton (1945- ). The series will feature rare appearances from past collaborators, new interpretations, and many Philadelphia debuts, all in an effort to present the compositional breadth of Hill, Hemphill, and Braxton. Performing artists taking part in the project are the Nels Cline Ensemble, trumpeter Ron Horton and Ensemble, pianist Ursula Oppens, the Daedalus String Quartet, the Rites Quartet, the Julius Hemphill Saxophone Choir, the Anthony Braxton Brass Quintet, the Anthony Braxton Trumpet Sextet, the Anthony Braxton Diamond Curtain Wall Trio, and Bobby Zankel and the Warriors of the Wonderful Sound. MacArthur Fellow Anthony Braxton will visit with a new ensemble and conduct two compositions performed only once to date: Composition 103 (for seven trumpets), which includes choreography for seven costumed instrumentalists, and one of Braxton’s seminal pieces, Composition 169 (for brass quintet).
