  1. Game 2 looking pretty good for Boston so far!
  2. That’s high on my to-read list of new and forthcoming books, along with The 1619 Project. Right now:
  3. Ordering this through my local record store, which is planning to stock it!
  4. Somewhat related to the topic, though not exacty (I realize you're looking for mentions of or allusions to jazz in books by sci-fi authors)--but Wayne Shorter is quite a sci-fi fan, and his Emanon project is centered around a science-fiction narrative.
  5. Night Lights show that--iirc--TTK may have given me some help with: Goin' Up: Space Age Jazz
  6. So I started using DuckDuckGo recently, after reading and hearing praise of it from some acquaintances centered around its emphasis on protecting privacy and personal information. That's great, of course, but my experience so far is that DDG is not as effective at leading me to primary links and topics for which I'm searching. It's not terrible, just generally disappointing enough to frequently send me back to the evil Google overlords. Any other board members have opinions about these two search engines?
  7. NY Times article on The Sopranos' enduring (and newfound) appeal: Why Is Every Young Person In America Watching The Sopranos?
  8. Thanks for the heads-up on the SOSF release--I just ordered a copy. I love these kinds of score and soundtrack collections.
  9. Up in honor of Gilmore’s 90th birth anniversary today: Away From The Spaceways: John Gilmore
  10. Fascinating memoir that puts me in mind of my own grandfather, whose large house in Indianapolis’ Woodruff Place neighborhood was also filled with books—though perhaps not as many as Chimen Abramsky possessed:
  11. The Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra here in Indiana performed all of BOTC once, maybe twice a few years back. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go, and they never made a studio recording afaik.
  12. This should generate more of the attention and discussion that I was hoping his centennial would bring about. (There was some, to be sure, but a Mosaic set with this kind of expansive overview seems likely to get reviewed in the more major mainstream media outlets such as NY Times and the Wall Street Journal.)
  13. How the wild-card races could shake out
  14. We re-aired A Different Journey: Chico Hamilton In The 1960s this past week in honor of today’s Hamilton centennial, and it remains archived for online listening.
  15. Revisiting this excellent 2011 Maxwell Davis anthology. In the booklet the producer states his intention to do a sequel that covers the same period, but it doesn’t appear to have come to fruition:
