  1. Just guessing (so ... take it for what it's worth) but I'd guess feeding them together might help. Seems to work with humans That, and a little time.
  2. If this CD is successful in triggering memories from the '70s, I'm definitely in!
  3. Hmm. How does the water get in? If there's no water, there's no suds. I like suds. I told you this was bad news.
  4. Longoria AND Crawford out with hand injuries. Longoria on the 15 day DL with a fracture. Crawford's status to be clarified Tuesday, I believe, but he's got something called middle finger tendon subluxation, which means his tendon is off the rails, I think. ... ouch. This throws a monkey wrench into the proceedings.
  5. Terribly sad story.
  6. Maybe they should call it "Kind of the Kitchen Sink"
  7. A definite sign of the apocalypse. ... whew ... that was close.
  8. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with THIS! ...
  9. Can we get an "amen" from the congregation?
  10. Yes, I love sports. But, as anyone who cares to notice is well aware by now, there is an ugly underbelly to most sports -- News Flash -- even baseball, which you and I love. The Olympics has had, and will continue to have, its share of ... cheaters, just to be clear. But more than that, the presentation of this mammoth soap opera is what gets to me. Didn't there used to be truces among nations in conflict during the Olympic Games? Now, they start wars timed to the start of the Olympics (see Russian-Georgia). Cynical? Yeah, maybe. But ... there's a grain of truth in there somewhere. My son would like a few words with you, none of them particularly pleasant, I'm afraid... I haven't seen the result, but I'm guessing the coach pulled the goaltender during extra-time penalty kicks, or something like that?
  11. They're trying to pull the wool over our eyes. ... I should admit that it's my job to pay attention to the Olympics, so in that sense I dread the drudgery of plodding along with this beast for two weeks. The whole Phelps thing is going to be pounded into us all until he will come to personify the Olympics for us (should he be successful). Yeah, he's on his way to accomplishing great things, but its the marketing and packaging and endless force-feeding that sours me. And in the end, he'll be celebrated on a box of Wheaties. Pass the sugar. (gulp) 1. What is you job? Seriously, I don't know. If you got to be surrounded by the hype, then...yuck. 2. I wish Mr. Phelps well, and will be following his quest, but for me, he is just one of many parts of the Olympics. I really do make a conccerted effport to avoid/disregard all they hyp lest it spoil for me the enjoyment of the competitions proper. USA men's soccer, vs Netherlands, just completed, tough break at the end, borderline heartbreaking. I'm the coach of the U.S. men's soccer team ... bada-boom I work on the copy desk in the sports department of our local rag. I'm moaning here in a half-hearted way, but really ... I get paid to watch sports. How bad can it be? (I live in constant fear that someday, someone will wise up to this scheme I've got going and drop-kick my ass to the curb. So far so good though.)
  12. ... and it's looking more and more like the wild card is coming out of the AL East, and it's looking more and more like it ain't going to be the Yankees.
  13. CRIMINY! (It's the new Dan, how do you like him? ) I went to bed with hopes of picking up a game and awaken to read this. Well, that's all I got since the rest of my post would be a string of much stronger oaths than CRIMINY.

  15. I gave up on the Rays tonight when they were down 5-1 after five innings. Big mistake. A 6-run sixth and they pull out the win in extras. And our new fella Bradford gets the win. ... These are road games they absolutely have to win. Now Jackson has to finish off the Mariners on Sunday.
  16. Gee, and I thought for a second there that some sort of positive wave of vibrational happiness was suddenly taking hold of Org members starting new topics -----> (You'll enjoy yourself here; won't be disappointed by this!, etc.) .... sigh
  17. Get a-hold of yourself, man!
  18. Good one ...
  19. Yes, way too early. Scares the hell out of me when I read about people younger than me dying.
  20. I think maybe this is a big part of it for me -- I don't watch TV anymore. That's the problem. I don't watch news ... nothing (except for baseball). ... It's TV in general that I can't stand!
  21. And another thing ... What's the deal with athletes picking what country they're going to represent? There's a guy from Pittsburgh named J.R. Holden playing point guard for the Russian men's basketball team. A guy from Michigan on the German team. American Becky Hammon is on the Russian women's team partly because she couldn't make the U.S. team. ... It's a free-for-all. Passports are traded for a shot at a medal, pure and simple. So the Olympics is basically a bunch pro athletes competing for whatever team (country) will hire them (grant them citizenship). And more than a few are jacked up on performance-enhancers. And it's all taking place in a totalitarian state. .... yeah, I'm interested in this because why again? .... I don't begrudge anyone who is interested. Have at it. But recognize what it is you're watching. Gimme Eddie the Eagle!!!
  22. If you ever cannot find your coffee cup in the morning, don't overlook the bathroom as a likely hiding place. ... Now looking for brain. Much more difficult to find. May have to try to screw in light bulb first. Not sure ...
  23. I lost my coffee cup. ... with the coffee in it. ... no idea
  24. I'm no doubt in the minority, but the track events are by far and away my most favorite Olympic events. Always have been. Nah ... they're over too fast. If they lasted longer maybe ....
  25. I'd second the Anouar Brahem rec. From what I know of his music, it draws fairly strongly on Middle Eastern influences. Astrakan Cafe is a trio with Anouar Brahem on oud, Barbaros Erkose on clarinet and Lassad Hosni on bendir, darbouka (percussion). Beautiful. For something with a little more European/classical influence, there's also his album "Le Pas Du Chat Noir" Personnel: Anouar Brahem (oud); Jean-Louis Matinier (accordion); Francois Couturier (piano). Taking mikeweil's criticisms of the piano into account, this is nonetheless a gorgeous CD with Couturier, IMO.
