  1. I like that one a lot. Whoops Jeff it's Olu Dara. Just as wonerful as Dennis.
  2. If anyone is still looking for Junior College, as I was, it is on this avid 2cd set. The Wilshire Ebell is out on Fresh Sound with other material.
  3. Strange, Murray always generates strong opinions both for and against on this board!! Not sure why he should arouse such strong opinions. Me, I'm a BIG fan and have been since 1976. I've seen him in just about every combination from solo through to the all-star big band and he still excites me.
  4. Charles Brackeen; Worshippers Come Nigh. Silkheart. Brackeen and Gonzalez - wonderful. Whoops it's Olu Dara.
  5. Blue Mitchell; Big 6. Riverside(Japan)
  6. We are still waiting for Chewy's opinion!!!!
  7. I've basically stopped buying new stuff. Nothing much that comes along now hits the spot and it seems that it's mostly rehashing what I've heard before. I maybe buy six or eight reissues a year now, mainly to fill gaps in the collection or to replace vinyl. I'm also conscious that at my age I have too much stuff and odd bits and pieces of vinyl especially are having to go. Some difficult choices too make but I convert the occasional track to mp3, that makes parting with some discs a little easier.
  8. Happy Birthday Larry!
  9. This is the record that turned me on to Murray. I was hooked from the start. A great early album an astonishingly mature for a 21 year old. The cd issue runs to two cds.

  11. This is a lovely record. I first heard it as a teengager just getting into jazz and I never fail to be moved by it's beauty, charm and downright good feeling.
  12. Dizzy Atmosphere; London(UK) pressing. Dishwater is a fabulous track, great Lee Morgan.
  13. Now - Paul Bley; My Joy. Mercury UK pressing before Clifford Jordan; In The World. Strata East
  14. There's a Classics cd with titles from the Lennox label.
  15. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEX, have a great day.
  16. Very nice. I'll own up to being a bit of a rail fan.
  17. Sounds good. One of the great pleasures on some of Lovano's earlier recordings is the sparkling piano of Werner.
  18. Lars Gullin; Fine Togther. Sonet 2lp.
  19. Rod Levitt Orchestra; Dynamic Sound Patterns. Dutch Fontana/Riverside. (Marte Rolling sleeve design)

Posting this to advise that Fresh Sound have reissued these albums on one cd. Good to see them available.
  21. I'm delighted you had such a great trip. I'm feeling slightly envious.
  22. "Autumn in New York" by Clifford Brown All Stars. Emarcy
  23. The New Wave In Jazz. Original Impulse mono.
  24. Jackie Mclean; Jackknife, Blue Note. Disc 2*, High Frequency . * these discs are auto coupled! Weird?
  25. I have Jazzz 104, and it's one of my favourite albums. Charlie seemed to promise a lot but it never really grabbed me. I've not heard the other Concord disc. Incidentally Lord lists an unissued quartet set on Keynote from 1956.
