Thanks for alerting me to Blue Minor. I can't say that I've heard of this one before. Looks interesting. Though I have to say I am very fond of Claude's 50s stuff especially with Bud Shank.
  2. Thelonious Monk; Complete Riverside Recordings. Disc 14. Euro edition.

Very sad news. A totally individual musician and a big influence on my listening in the sixties.
  4. Many happy returns of the day Chris
  5. Elvin Jones, Jimmy Garrison Sextet. Illumination. Original Impulse.
  6. Welcome back Stefan, glad you had a good time. It's awesome there, the wall, forbidden city, terracotta warriors, the people and culture, all unforgetable
  7. Happy Birthday.
  8. Happy Birthday and many happy returns.
  9. Happy Birthday John
  10. I caved in too. I'd agree, worth getting, a good buy at the price.
  11. Unforgetable and deeply missed. I was fortunate to see him several times with various groups. But it was the electic atmosphere evident at the first UK AEOC concert that first come to mind when I hear Lester.
  12. Thanks Bev, would have missed this otherwise.
  13. Inspired by chewy - Herbie Hancock; Fat Albert Rotunda. Warner Bros.
  14. Happy Birthday MG and many happy returns.
  15. That's right, the Italian styling was the hip fashion of the day. I remember it well.
  16. Hugh Ragin; Golf Coast Groove from Feel The Sushine on Justin Time. But it could have been almost any track. Ragin has a lovely tone and a great command of the instrument. It's about time he poduced something new.
  17. Happy Birthday Brad.
  18. Fat Albert was recorded by RVG so no surprise really.
  19. I think this is my favoutrite Mingus line up too. But if made to choose I'd still go for East Coasting over Tijuana Moods though.
  20. CDs and vinyl. I do have a few mp3s but these are just odd tracks which I felt I couldn't do without from lps or cds I've disposed of. Downloads, perhaps about a dozen tracks, mainly just to complete sessions.
  21. Very sad news. Some fine and memorable movies mentioned above.
  22. That's my experience too, so far at least.
  23. Have a very happy birthday Ronald.
  24. No real problems here though I think some of the David Murray Octet records sound a bit muddy.
  25. This afternoon's random vinyl choices Wes Montgomery; Impressions; Affinity Roland Kirk; Introducing. Chess (Italian Green Lne issue). Sonny Rollins; In Paris. Jazzway (Italy) Sonny Fortune; Waves Of Dreams. Horizon.
