  1. Happy Birthday Jack
  2. Nothing in Lord either.
  3. An early Jarrett purchase was Expectations. Two lp set on Columbia. With Dewey Redman, Sam Brown, Charlie Haden, Paul Motian and Airto Moreira.
  4. First Joe Farrell as leader was Moongerms (CTI). with Herbie Hancock, Stanley Clarke and Jack DeJohnette.
  5. I used to have this edition. Sold it when the cd became available.
  6. Wendell Marshall; Jazz Skyline (Savoy) Milt Jackson with Lucky Thompson, Hank Jones and Kenny Clarke.
  7. Have great birthday Stefan, and many happy returns.
  8. I saw the trio in London at pone of the "Jazz Expos". Presumably 1968. Nice stuff but it's all getting a tad hazy now.
  9. Whoops! Sorry Dan, rules read. I'll try again shortly.
  10. I've nothing against needle-drops. It's the music that's important. But I do expect reasonable quality. I had a Jazz View cd that was disgraceful, they couldn't have found a worse copy.
  11. David Murray; Flowers For Albert.
  12. This reminded me of Hal Wilner's meditations on Mingus, Weird Nightmare which makes use of Harry Partch instruments on several tracks.
  13. I have a few Fresh Sound cds which have clearly been copied straight from vinyl. Occasionally they seem to have been poorly declicked altering the sound considerably. Like you I could do better in some instances on my pc given a decent record to strat with.
  14. I agree, fine album, great line up.
  15. More Rollins - East Broadway Rundown. HMV(UK) pressing.
  16. Inspired by another thread - Sonny Rollins/Thad Jones. Everest Archive of Folk Music/Jazz Series. Some very nice Rollins here.
  17. Very true. Birthday greetings, have a good trip.
  18. Dave Brubeck; Jackpot. CBS(UK).
  19. I don't recall ever seeing Jackpot, probably I was into something else when it came out. I mentioned this topic to a friend who pulled it from his shelves and kindly lent it to me. I'll be playing it shortly.
  20. Thanks Clifford, chronology is a bit difficult to pin down when you get to age! I recall my Polydor pressing was pretty bad and played at a very low evel. Always liked the Marte Roling cover on the Fontana issue. I still a few albums from that series.
  21. My paypal payment has been shown as unclaimed for the last week or so????
  22. Dave Brubeck; Bossa Nova USA. Columbia (mono)
