For simplicity's sake, I'd have to go with the "Yardbird Suite" set that Rhino put out awhile ago, especially the first disk.

A local Half Price just acquired two boxes of jazz cds last week. A lot of Concor-like stuff but they had a handfull of the Denon/Savoy releases as well. Had most of them like the JJ and Kai but they had a couple by Charlie Byrd and Marian McPartland that I've never seen before. Has anyone heard the Byrd? Its called 'Jazz Recital':

Had a huge BBQ party planned tonight until it got rained out. Was going to have: chicken, ribs, dogs, brats, burgers and homemade potato salad.

Hot until a big storm rolled in his afternoon and cancelled my BBQ.

Air: G.v.E on Air Time-Nessa. Have really been enjoying a lot of Air thanks to some amzing aquisitions over the last two weeks.

Interesting finds today. Miles Davis Quintet-"Live in Zurich 1960": Jazz Unlimited, 1993 The Zorn Trio-Plays Mats Johansson: Svenska Unikum, 1996-I saw the retail price on this one is $39.98; I got this one used for $2.50!

How are these? Been meaning to pick up more of Dixon's Soul Note work.

Landed like 8 Sun Ra cd's last week and I can't believe I went this long without records like 'Nothing Is' and 'My Brother the Wind Vol II' for this long. Yet more amazing stuff!

Been listening to a lot of Air lately (thanks to landing two Air cd's within a two weeks time) and I'm just amazed at how good of a band they were. Air Lore is really an interesting album, not something you'd expect from this band but rewarding nonetheless. I still have to give the edge to Air Time, which is a brilliant record. Threadgill is really a true talent and a treasure to jazz.

Crazy Ohio weather continues: last week we were roasting in the sun and now its been in the low 60's this week. I almost turned on the heat this morning

Oh yeah, I also nabbed Kenny Burrell's Live at the Village Vanguard, the original Chess series one.

Wow, what a cool thread. Its just loaded with tons of info. Don't own any Willette, but it looks like I'm going to have to change that, especially with the RVG's.
